I got denied a discover card, I did their pre-qualification form before I applied and it said I was qualified. I filled out the app and then it asked for more information. Then they came back and said unfortunately they were unable to approve me. I got my letter in the mail and they list inquiries as the reason. I do have a lot of inquiries but I want this discover. I want to recon but I have never done that before, what do I say how do I do this? Also chase did the same thing. I have banked with chase for more than 10 years so I thought I would have a chance there but still denied.

Discover will pre-qualify anything. Just come up with a name and any 9 digit number and you will get your answer. Unfortunately, they are not very good at approving should you call. But you can certainly try.

chase you can recon, discover... no.
i tried a chase recon last night - i called, and a very pleasant young woman answered, took my info, then read me a list of 5 or so reasons I was declined (weird part was she said "or" in between each reason)
when she was done reading them she said i'd get a letter in the mail and wrapped up the call. never even really gave me a chance to talk. is that normal? do i have to just butt in and try to argue/give myself a chance to explain? did i call the wrong number? or was my credit so bad (675 or so, depending on what they pulled) that they weren't going to waste any time on me?
