Hello everyone. I was wondering how many months I should wait before applying for the Double Cash or the Costco anywhere card? I recently went on a spree and got 3 cards (though, I somewhat regret applying for so many seeing as the costco anywhere would have served me better since I shop there heavily.). I applied for the ThankYou Preferred in July but was denied because of "too many recent inquiries". The recent inquiries Citi was talking about were from April and May of this year. I am still waiting for my Amex and Discover card to report to the bureaus so I do not know how much my credit is going to tank. My scores in July were around 720~ and have tanked dramatically after the authorized user card I was on was closed, and my Utilization shot up quite a bit (which is why I am patiently waiting for AMEX and Discover to report).
Also, not sure if this matters but I do also have a BestBuy Visa card with Citi with a 2K limit.
Any help is appreciated!
I would wait at least six months from when you were denied for the previous Citi card. 12 months would be an even better idea. Best wishes.
Citi seems to be inquiry-sensitive. When I started my little app spree recently, the Costco Anywhere card was at the top of my list--as was the Double Cash--denied for too many inquiries. At the time I only had like 3 in the past year. So, I'd suggest the longer you can wait the better.

Not in my experience, it's all relative and profile dependent. I was approved for the AAdvantage Platinum Select in August, and believe me, I had a ton of inquiries. They pulled EX for me. Typically, if that is one of the primary reasons listed, there are other underlying factors as to why the application did not meet the UW criteria.
As to the OP, waiting 6 months (or longer) should optimize things if you can abstain from adding any new accounts/inquiries during that period.
