I hate Discover and the only reason I don't close that account is to avoid hurting my credit score.
I make 6 figures and ALWAYS pay ALL my CC's in full before the due date. Regardless, they have kept me at $1500 for almost a year, so when I read about people getting those huge cli, I just find it hard to believe, for that is a reality I do not know!
Not including bills, I sped over $37K a year dining out and in entertainment, but I keep my utilization at 0% consistently, so I find it insulting when the reason they always give me is "lack of experience with that amount of credit" Calling in is useless, because they would chalk it off to the automatic system decision and they don't even try. Obviously, as my CC line up grows, this particular card gets relocated to the bottom of the pile.

It doesn't matter how much you spend on dining our and entertainment if you're not doing it on the Discover card. It's hard for someone with your spending to use a low-limit card. Who wants to spend time thinking about whether a charge is going to go through when they have other cards where it's not an issue.
I suggest you make Discover your card for a specific type of charge - perhaps a phone and other recurrinig bills rhat total a few hundred dollars a month

@Anonymous And another satisfied customer. Keeping your util at 0 at all times is a score ding of 10-20+/- points for one. Disco is a jealous one and Miss Disco likes to be the head of the party. Closing the card wont hurt your score since you have 0 util. Unless its your oldest. And it will still be a postive on your report for up to 10 yrs. Close it if it makes you that angry. Lifes too short to get upset over a credit card, join the forum, and rant. But. Welcome to the forums.
Discover approved my online application on 8/26/19 with a $15K CL, but increased my CL without asking for it on 11/14/19 to $19K. I didn't know until now that I could simply request a CLI online every month for only a SP. Just two more to go Thank you for the insight!!
I feel that I may be contributing to Global Deforestation due to the amount of paper Discover is thowing my way to inform me that I am subprime in their eyes.

My attitude is if they don't want me, make them pay, LOL.
Seriously though, as a Canadian who has dealt with Amex, Capital One and TD in Canada for years, I'm FLOORED by the amount of garbage they insist on sending through snail mail in the US no matter how many all-email options you choose.
I don't get why folks keep asking every month.. its a waste of paper... Seriously ... stretch it out a bit.... Try things like every 3 months or every 6 months like a few other cards... yes you can do it monthly but *should* you do it monthly.... also there is a possibility of your card getting stuck/bucketed.... Discover uses asset backed securities and does bucket... the buckets arent as set in stone as say Capital one but you CAN be bucketed... If your scores have significently climbed or your credit profile has cleaned up since your original card.... and your still not seeing it... If its over a year... Try for another card... (do try the prequal first)...... You may get traction on the new card... And as others have said.. Miss Disco likes to be the daily driver or at least one of your primary cards.... This is *my* opinion but you do have to use it at least a little to see CLIs esp if the cards been sockdrawered.... Also consider asking for APR decreases and/or another 0% for 12 on new purchases.... you can every 6 months as long as you are not in the intro period.... and the new 0% need a gap between 0 offers...

Closing a card you hate wont hurt your credit score unless it affects your utilization which at 0 im guessing is nil
