I knew they manually reviewed and I wasn't expecting a response even with the app status # but I tried it anyway. Instant denial: "You were not eligible"
Did you get the instant denial online? Or did you call to find out your status. Is REI Mastercard also by US Bank?
I had to make myself feel better. I apped for Chase Freedom since I like the categories this year compared to my Citi Dividend.
Approval! With the highest starting limit I've ever received $10,000 and their lowest APR rate 14.24%! They totally beat Citibank's Double Cash terms and I've been banking with Citibank for 10+ years!
Yes, the REI MC is also by USBank. And, it was an online denial. I didn't even bother to call because it said I was denied for a card, and I just assumed it was a flat out denial because I had been denied 3 years prior (due to my previous BK). So, much to my surprise, I got a thick envelope with the card almost 2 weeks later.
I only brought it up because I certainly expected a denial letter.
Congrats on the Chase Freedom!

What were your scores when you got the REI card? It's one of the few I'm looking at, but not sure what I should shoot for before applying
I applied in December 2014. They pulled TU, which was my best CR. My FICO8 was sitting in the 730s, as best as I can recall, but I have seen on credipulls that they tend to use TU04.
What was more astonishing for me was the fact that I was approved with a BK7 (though 7.75 years out).
I wanted to see what damage I did to my Experian score after the little app spree (4 apps).
It went down by 10 points. 778 now
Chase pulled both EX (according to myFICO report) and TU (according to CreditKarma). ![]()
Blispay pulled EX.
US Bank pulled EX.
Not seeing Fidelity - yet.

So...I should have frozen ARS, apparently.
I ended up with the Cash Rewards. -_-;
SL $1500
APR 24.24% o_O
Too many new accounts and inquiries. The CS they quoted me was 780 Experian FICO Classic V3 (which is this one?).
@minski wrote:I was bored and curious so I decided to apply for the US Bank Cash+ that I've been thinking of applying for in a couple months.
I called the status #.
I was denied. T__T
I don't know my TU FICO 04 score but my 08 scores are 780+ all around with no negatives. AAoA about 5 years due to newish accounts. I do have a few recent inquiries. Credit Karma shows 1 inquiry to TU and EQ each, and I'm sure that I've got 1 maybe on Experian for the Citi Double Cash this January. Overall util is 5%. Student loans about $11K. Income about $56K. Overall credit $44,800.
Sad. I'm going to go sit in the corner now.
Edit: I just went through my credit reports. Experian had 3 inquiries: Chase Slate and Chase Amazon (May 2014), Citi Double Cash (January 2016).
Wow! Certainly speechless with that denial, what do you have to have to get in? There is nothing out of the ordinary in your statement of data points that should render a denial and seriously doubt your Fico 4 would be 100 pts less (unless you had a foreclosure or short sale) but congratulations on the 10k Chase ![]()

Sounds like the Vantage 3, also known as FAKO or Credit Karma type of score.

Do not fret. US bank is tough. With my multiple High Cl's Visa Siggy's, I still not get squat on their pre qual site.
