Re: I just Ritz app'd..

Just received a denial letter. The score they pulled was EX 729, I'm at 1% util with 24k available credit and plenty of income. The reason stated is too few accounts on file for a sufficient amount of time. Wonder if I should even bother with recon? If I applied for a "lesser" cobranded card like the British AW would they use the same credit pull and would I be more likely to be approved?

Go for the recon, you have nothing to loose.

Re: I just Ritz app'd..

Declined. My average age of accounts is like 16 months and they want to see more age. Not surprising.

Re: I just Ritz app'd..

Yeah -- 24 months AAoA for superprime makes sense.

I have an AAoA calculator/estimator spreadsheet I use before apping or planning apps.  Want to get my AAoA to 24 months and then keep it there forever until I can get it to 36 months and set that as my new basement.

Re: I just Ritz app'd..

If I applied for a lower tier card they would probably pull a new report wouldn't they? I app'd for this one on the 17th..

Re: I just Ritz app'd..

They would definitely pull again for a new application.

I don't buy the reason for denial, either. I would guess they saw something that concerned them, but I'm not sure what it is. For reference, my AAoA was 13 months when I applied and was approved. Oldest account was scoring at 3 years at the time. When you get your denial letter, they'll list your Card Acquisition Risk score. Mine was more than 60 points below my FICO 8, so that could be a pretty good guess as to what the actual issue was.

Pfff! i would call back, you get someone different each time you call.  I got approved for my CSP on the third call (because of my ch7).  I explained why i filed, cards i've gotten since then and how i've been 100% responsible since then.

MAKE SURE you know your credit profile history, every detail! They love to hear a concrete answer when they ask you a question, shows you know what's going on.

Just read this post below and this member got approved for this card (Page 1 -> approval comment on page 8). EQ was 675, 9% UTL and AAOA 1.6 years.

Go get that card!! Report back and let us know what your CL is.
