I had a Chase credit card that I defaulted on back in 2015 (small CL of $1k) and for so many years I was denied for any Chase preapprovals.
I decided to pull the trigger on the IHG Premier CC. Got an 7-10 days message (no insta-denial, good sign?) Credit utilization less than 10% - hovering around 5/24 on EX, and no negatives (Chase account was removed from report a year ago.)
Can I get some thoughts on what my chances for an approval are?

If I'm not mistaken 7-10 is not a good sign, should probably call recon
UPDATE: Got a decision (seems they pulled TU too) and was denied due to too many recent accounts on report. Any recon chances?

I got the 7-10 day message a few days ago for the same reason. Called recon and went pending review. Ended up getting approved yesterday. There's hope, good luck!

Mind sharing what recon number was used?

Just the standard recon number on the backdoor thread. Ended up on hold for 2 hours so I called the verification number in the same thread. They were able to transfer me to the review department and I was able to speak to someone there but they weren't able to tell me something concrete.
Just be nice and talk about your strongpoints.

Disheartening outcome. Called the recon line and spoke with a credit analyst, who said he'd take a second look. Came back on the line and virtually denied because of the existing reason. Asked about my existing relationship with Chase as a checking customer for the last few years that my direct deposit goes into to see if this would help.
Still no dice. I understand I had quite a few inquiries on my TU over the last two years, and odd they pulled TU when so many states they pull EX.
Guess I'll take the hard inquiry loss at this point.

Chase pulls EX and TU for me here in Texas. Always a double pull for me 🫤
Yep- double pull here too in DE. TU has way over the limit, EX not so much.
Hard lesson learned. Hope the DP at least brings someone else value.

Maybe try calling again. Never know you might get someone wanting to play ball. Otherwise, you can always try again in a few months to see. Sorry man.
