Identity issues

You guys are awesome- so much knowledge here I'm amazed. I'm hoping for some ideas to resolve an issue I am having with my identity.

I finally had all my old bad stuff fall off my credit report which left a paid off car loan, a paid off installment account, and 3 credit card - newest is 1 yr 11 mo oldest is 7 yr 7 mo for the credit card. I see different ages for avg age of accounts. That looks like it depends on if they use the cards only or add in the other accounts.
I've had issues for years opening a bank account- finally tried again at a local credit union and succeeded. Also got a car loan thru them this month. They had no issues at all and it was easy to get started on both. (Car loan showed credit score of 827) (I know the hp has dropped my score slightly and the new loan will likely ding me for a bit)

My scores range from 780's to 800's. My income is slightly under 100k, usage less than 8% and dti about 1%.

TU and EX have 3 inquiries now and EQ none. Before the loan my oldest inquiry was almost 2 years ago.
I would think that should be suitable to get a new credit card. I applied for chase - no timeline on the email but the phone line showed 7-10 days. I called in before I got the letter and evidently they needed to verify my identity. She didn't say yes or no on the phone as to if I was approved but said watch for an envelope with a card ( then paused and added or letter soooo.... idk but the new message says within 2 weeks.
I tried the Amex preapproval tool - that took almost a week to get denied. Now I have a letter saying they can't confirm my identity (I'm not feeling jumping through the hoops of getting a letter from the bank. At least no hp ). Discover sent me a mailer for the unsecured It card. That netted me a hp on TU and an instant denial. Waiting on the letter now but I'm guessing it's an identity thing. Makes me wonder if that's part of why I couldn't get a grown up bank account for so long.

I've double and triple checked TU, EX, EQ, and Chexsystem - they are correct. I'm waiting on Lexis now. Where else do I need to check? The identity reports on here show my info with correct addresses but some misspelled along with some name typos, several wrong emails and phone numbers associated with states I've never even visited much less lived in.

Just for extra info- I've been getting emails and calls for accounts associated with someone who shared my name (think John Doe common) but all the other info is off the wall inaccurate. I'm trying to build up enough to get a mortgage in a few years so I want to resolve this long before I try.

Re: Identity issues

@TryAgain 2 weeks is usually a good sign with Chase so fingers crossed it works out for you. Also have an app pending with 2 week message but no guarantees of course. Smiley Happy

For your identity issues, not sure if this will help but Lexis Nexis was so off the wall inaccurate for me I asked them to delete entirely. Its an option in my state. You can also dispute items line by line with them if necessary. I ended up having to submit disputes for things on EX, EQ and TU for issues like incorrect job association, wrong phone numbers and name spelling errors. Some items you can dispute online, with names or addresses you would likely have to call them to see what the process is and possibly send in identity documentation.

You should put forth the effort to go through all your reports to get as much incorrect information removed as possible or you'll likely continue to have problems, and spend a lot of time calling reconsideration lines, talking to underwriting departments. Speaking of which, you should call those that declined you for ID issues, get them what they need, and see if you can get an approval. Once you're in with some (like Amex) future approvals will be a  lot simpler.

Re: Identity issues

With any luck we both get approved after our 2 week time out with Chase.
I know there are some other systems that collect all of our info... hopefully I don't have to track down all of them to get it cleared up 😟

Re: Identity issues

Amex didn't do a hard pull so I'm not sure if they would be skittish at this point if I put in the time to go get what they want from the bank. Seems they would be ok with calling or copies of bills and my id showing the same address.  Discover should send me a letter- not sure if they do recons but I suppose that one is a wait and see what the letter says. I stopped after that one simply because if there is something I need to fix... why get a bunch of hits on the credit?
I know my info has been in multiple data breaches- seems like every time one hits the news I'm included. I freeze everything but haven't put a fraud alert. Will a cra basically do one due to breaches?
