I'm curious if it's possible to land Amex BCE with just 6 months history. I heard people can get it in their low 600 scores and so how much of a chance would someone with a high score but limited history have? Also I'm college student with independent income.
I think your history might not be reporting yet...or might just be reporting. I think patience will be your ally here...the longer you wait the more attractive your profile will look. If you wait until 1 year of credit history, your chances will not only look better but your startling limit will too. What's your income look like, if I may ask?

Like 30k a year. I make 15/hr tutoring. College students don't make a lot

That's more than enough for the purposes of establishing credit. It's good you've thought about your credit as it's really important for your future. According to your sig, you have 2 cards. That's really going to help build out your credit. Has your Discover graduated yet or is it still secure?

I think you should wait for it to become unsecured...which could be any month now if you're not maxing it out.
Lets see what others have to say...

what are your current scores?

For what it's worth, I applied with similar circumstances and was denied about a month ago. Personally, if I were you, I would wait 6 months to age your accounts and perhaps get a slightly higher income to report.
I am also a college student, slightly longer credit history, and FICO scores ~700. I had a pre-existing Amex card, and applied for the BCE. I was rejected due to 1) short credit history and 2) insufficient income. I called recon, and the representative seemed to be fine with the short credit history (perhaps since I have an Amex in good standing) but they wouldn't budge on income ($11k/year).
But oddly, my cousin applied with a slightly higher income but a lower score/no previous Amex relationship; he was approved.

What was your pre-existing card and what was your cousin's income if you don't mind me asking?
