Langley has become a tough cookie lately...First they will instantly approve you online "conditionally" (if everything seems ok) and even let you know how much you are approved for...However, this approval means not much because their lending/credit department would always do manual underwriting afterwards...a day or so later....and if they see you have too many accounts or too much available credit then they will either deny you or give you very low SL. And when they deny you for this reason (for having tons of revolving accounts or too much available credit), they won't mention this reasoning on the AA notice, rather they would put other reasons like couldn't verify your documents such as identity, address and employment...It has happened to 4 of my friends including myself...
I applied online in March of this year...got instantly approved for a good SL...but a week later received AA letter that they have decided to deny my application for the reason that they couldn't verify my identity and address...I called them and they insisted me to stop by one of their branches...I kept insisted them that its impossible for me to drive 340 miles just to stop by to their branch just for submitting these documents when I can email/fax/mail them, but they refused...Since SL was extremely big, I decided to drive all the way from NYC to VA as they are located in VA...360 miles from my place...it took me many hours of drive, tolls, gas and waste of my whole one and half days...I stopped by to their one of the branches and presented all those documents in person, but credit department then decided to give me only $1k SL rather than what they initially approved me for $28k...I got totally pissed off and asked them that why they asked me to come all the way from 360 miles and wasted my time, energy, money for $1k...I had very heated argument with underwriting...I mean- very heated one...And I told the underwriter that I don't want anything from them...
A few days later the same underwriting called me and tried to feel sorry for me that I had to go to 360 miles just for this..and tried to offer me a card with good SL if I could close some of my existing accounts with other creditors...I told her that I was planning to close down some of my accounts anyway which I am not using much but I won't do it right away as what she wanted me to do...She insisted that she wanna help me in extending a good SL but she needed to answer to her boss too..otherwise she said that her job would be in risk...She also informed me that Langley is now EXTREMELY sensitive to number of revolving accounts and total available CL since February of this year...I refused her offer at that time...She then started calling me almost once or twice a week to check up on me if I wanna get rid of some of my accounts....We kinda became friends...but I told her that I don't do any business with Langley as of now and I am not getting rid of any of my existing account as of now...but she still checks up on me time and time again...However, a few weeks ago I noticed a pre-approved offer of BIG SL for their credit card appeared on my membership page which is still there, but I have decided not to apply with them anymore because -(1) I am in garden (walking and walking and walking...) and I dont wanna waste HP with them as they are very hard to trust.. although she is saying that Langley wont do again to me what they did before but I am not trusting them as of now....
As for 4 of my friends, then they were all instantly got approved but 10 days later 2 of them received denial letter (AA) and other two were offered (over the phone) a toy limit...Langley is extremely sensitive to numbers of revolving accounts and total available CL...I thought this area belongs to First Tech Credit Union, but now Langley is following their footprints....

Also seem to be sensitive or allergic to low income lol. Cant get nothing more from them and im not fan of their web interface. They should look at how PSECU updated theirs and learn a lesson. If one gets fraud on their card, like i did, expects weeks before charge gets deleted and is delt with by Visa card Services, not Langley

I think all lenders are allergic to low income one way or another except Navy Federal...but then it also depends on how low we are talking about...because what seems low to you, might not seem low to a lender..Most lenders do work with applicants even with low income....You might not get big SL right off the bat but at least you could sneak into their bones and from there you can work your way up to get where you wanna be...lols

Lol thats true, ive accomplished alot on what i make if people saw my income theyd laugh at me but ive done all right credit wise. Whats hurt me is helping family and Covid, most debt is from that. Know how to manage credit well just need the means to excell at it. But its true you never know which lender works well for you until you try them out PSECU and Navy have been amazing.
Good to know I could avoid a hard pull by applying online instead of over the phone.
Having only two credit cards, I likely won't encounter the "too many trade lines" issue. If all goes as planned next year, Langley would make number four (Citi Custom Cash would come before Langley).

I was instantly approved received a call the next day stating they would email loan docs to sign. Never got email played phone tag for several days , finally got a rep on phone. Said sorry you were denied 😳
Stated exceeded excessive credit lines , (yes heard that before from PF) so why did you confirm online and through rep it was approved .
Honestly I am trimming the fat and they just moved to the front of the line . Will ponder this afternoon and then decide.
While I know it's just business and nothing personal I think I will keep my business with my other CUs. Not angry just giving a heads up from my experience
Was there a HP for the CLI request? I was about to submit for one for the heck of it, but I do not want to waste a HP for something I don't really need.

Yes
Thanks for heads up. I read elsewhere it's a SP, but I am going listen to you and play it safe. Don't need any unneeded HPs right now.
