@Anonymous wrote:Hi, I'm doing an app spree. I currently just have a CapOne secured card. It's over 2 yrs old. Paid on time and pay it off every month down to about a 5-10% ballance. My scores are 674-678 as of a couple weeks ago. My reports are pretty clean aside from a couple of old collections.
I havent applied for a new card in a couple years. I just applied for CapOne quicksilver and Venture. I was pre approved, but got a message to wait for something in the mail after I applied online.
I'd like to apply for t least 2 or 3 other cards, preferably not store cards. And have all my credit cards combined be around a 10k limit. Any suggestions for what I should apply for?
I don't understand. If you're waiting to hear from Cap One on the Quicksilver and Venture, why don't you just wait? What's the point of adding cards when you don't know what you have?
@Anonymous wrote:Anyone know of a card that pulls just Transunion? That only has the one verizon collection. Or maybe I should just go for another secured card for now. I didn't realize that smallish older collections would not allow me to get a credit card. Seems like a minor issue overall, but I guess not.
If you're bound and determined to apply for another card, you should try for the Barclay Rewards card, which is the entry level card at Barclays. And Barclays pulls TU.
But if you want a card with a bigger starting credit limit, you might want to go for their NFL Extra Points card instead.
But I would think you'd want to wait to see what happens with Quicksilver & Venture.
@Anonymous wrote:Any suggestions for a secured card that can change to unsecured sometime in the future? Capital One won't unsecure it. So I'll eventually close that. Another secured card for maybe $300, would at least thicken my file.
Cap One will eventually unsecure it.

,,,,, I forgot which Barclays card I applied to. .....
If you go to their application status page it will tell you
I went to the check status page, filled out my info, and it just gave me a generic reponse about sending me a letter with the reason why I was declined. I don't know if I'm going to wait to see the reason in the mail or call.
I applied to Open Sky secured card yesterday with a $300 limit. I chose that card because it doesn't pull a credit report and it reports as an unsecured card. I got a message that they want me to send a copy of my ID and a utility bill, because the address I gave is a mail revieving address? The address I use for most my mail is a UPS box. I have to get that to them electronically by Fri. I'm away from my apatment till fri, so that will be a bit of a challenge. I'll see if I can get an electronic utility bill to send them before Fri.
I'm ok with just getting 2 more secired cards for the next few month. I have an issue w the $3k CapOne secured card, since I didn't want to keep the money tied up for so long. So at least this way I can get 2 other secured cards for $300, and then wait 3-6 months to cancell the CapOne card.
I know that I'll get some kind of hit to my score for closing the CapOne secured card because it's the only card I have and I had it for close to 2 years. But if I get 2 new secured cards soon, does anyone know how long it takes to bounce back from that. 3 months or 6 months after cancelling the Cap One, also taking into account I'll have 2 other secured cards?

Sorry, I must be slow. After I filled out the form, it suggested that I apply for Quicksilver and Venture. So I applied for the cards they suggested.
I went to pick up my mail today. I only pick up mail once or twice a week. I got a Capital One Quicksilver pre-approval letter. I assume it was mailed before I applied.
There's a reservation # and access code and I have to apply by Dec 29.
They list some reasons why someone may not be approved. One reason is if I applied for 2 or more Capital One cards in the last 30 days. I did, so I guess I better not apply again. Maybe I should call?
