NFCU 91/3 questions

Sooooo I can't really find the answer definitively on here so I guess I'll just ask.

Does 91/3 apply after having secured card for those time periods? Does it apply after a bankruptcy? Just trying to figure out if I should try at 91/3 for an unsecured card or if I should just wait until a year after my BK7. I have no really need for any more credit but I'd like to have my own rewards card instead of using my brothers Citi card all the time.

Re: NFCU 91/3 questions

91/3 is for your secured card as far as going for your 2nd Navy card (YES) you can but alot of people at navy wait 5months which is when most secured cards graduate then they pull the trigger for that 2nd card..But if your profile support trying before your secured card unsecure ..go for it..i would wait till it unsecure if it was me

I don't have any problem waiting, I just want to do it at the right time Smiley Happy

I've read hundreds if not thousands posts in there and not found the specific thing I was looking for.

Re: NFCU 91/3 questions

I've heard 91/3 from one rep after opening a secured card and that it doesn't matter from another rep.  I would just call and ask but you may receive a different answer depending on who picks up the phone.  FYI - I just opened the NFCU Secured card on 1/30 of this year so fresh information.

Re: NFCU 91/3 questions

Based on your profile, I would suggest waiting 6 months for best results.

Re: NFCU 91/3 questions

If you have a BK on your report you will probably have to wait at least 1 year post BK.   The Rep's will tell you that before giving you a unsecured card.

Re: NFCU 91/3 questions

I was in your situation, while technically I think you can apply at 91/3, you'll probably have better luck waiting a bit longer. Here is my timeline with NFCU:

March 2019 - approved for secured card $300

September 2019 - secured card graduated to $2000 limit

October 2019 (1 year post bk) - applied for 2nd card - denied

January 2020 (15 months post bk) - applied for 2nd card - approved $12,500 limit
