I did their pre-approval first (which I have read is not accurate) but came back for the secured card. Did how much I wanted to fund it ($300) and hit submit...said it will be processed in 24-28 hours and they will let me know...Is that normal?
Also, did the pre-qual for Capital One, and was pre-qual for the platinum ($0 annual fee and intro 9 months 0%) *I will PIF anyway* and the Quicksilver card (The one with 1.5% rewards and $0 annual fee). IS one better than the other on that front? Thanks yall!!
Yes, that's normal. I'd go with QS, 1.5% CB is better than 0. Same UW, that's the only difference. Good luck!

Thank you!
The Quicksilver is a better card, you get cash back without an AF.
That's pretty much a normal thing for Navy. You'll probably know sooner than that. Good luck!
I did the pre-qual and it said I was only eligible for the secured card. I went ahead and applied for the Cash Rewards card and was approved right away for $700. I thought I would get more than that but decided that I will charge a few things every month and then PIF and then I will ask for credit card increases every so often and see if I get good increases as it seems that is what NFCU is known for. I would prefer NFCU over Capital One any day. I have 2 cards at Cap1 and I am going to get rid of them as soon as I can.

That's not uncommon for Navy, most are given a low limit on first card. The pre-qual tool is unreliable, and quite frankly a bogus gimmick.
You're eligible for first CLI at 91 days and three full statements. You're eligible to apply for 2nd Navy card at that point as well. After 1st CLI request at 91 days, all others are 181 day schedule.
Thank you everyone! I thought about the un-secured card, but after reading many, many, many pages....they usually want to see a year or so post DC (BK7) so, I figured lets start small and roll with the NFCU train...Just happy I am with them.

Hopefully find out something today. CK told me they HP my TU, which is expected, yesterday. According to myFICO my TU9 is 620.
So, it looks like this is pretty normal from what yall have said and what I have read for NFCU to do manual reviews. I guess it might be toward Tuesday (monday holiday) before I know. I do want to apply for the Cap 1 card, should I wait, or go ahead and apply. I guess I just don't want to hurt my chances with NFCU...They have already pulled my TU.
