I recently started a relationship with NFCU. I used to be successful but became disabled about 5 yrs ago. I am also now self employed with a side business. I live with my very successful brother and use his income as my total household income on credit card applications. I am worried that if I have my SSI direct deposited into my new checking account. NFCU will deny future CC applications or CLI bc they will assume SSI is my only household income. Eventhough I want to raise my internal score with a DD, I am concerned this might not be a good idea in my unique situation. Any advise/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

nfcu goes on stated income, there are very few if any reports of being asked for POI
navy considers income to be the following for cc apps:
You may include your wages, retirement benefits, public assistance, and income from investments or rental properties. You may include another person's income if it is regularly deposited into or transferred to an account you own or co-own. If you are 21 or older, you may also include another person's income that is used to pay your expenses. You do not have to reveal alimony, child support, or separate maintenance income unless you want it considered as a basis for repayment.
Agree with the above post, I haven't seen many reports of NFCU asking for POI so I think you'll be okay.

I don't think they will bother you. My income with them is 55,000 but my direct deposit to them is a small pension payment of 297 per month. They never said anything and its been a year. My larger pension and my ssdi are direct depositeed to my checking at a different bank.
As others have stated, I think you will be fine. Many people have incomes in addition to any government or business direct deposits such as SS and pensions. Best of luck.
