NFCU MEMBERSHIP PROCESS

My brother served in the Navy years ago. Apparently he once banked with NFCU. He called customer service, verified his information, and had his membership renewed. I then called and completed an application over the phone. Member services couldn't process my app. She gave me a reference number and stated that I would receive an email. This morning I was asked to furnish documents proving my identity in order for them to complete my membership. I submitted my information along with my biological brothers birth certificate etc to speed the process.

Bottom line, I hope I get accepted. I emailed the documents and was told that I would hear from them in up to 3 days.

Anyone else familiar with this process?

I'm so anxious! Once approved I plan to apply for a CC.

NFCU takes membership very seriously and their fraud/security department is very active in confirming eligibility requirements are met before approving memberships.  I'm sure that once they have reviewed the documents your membership will be approved and you'll be able to apply for the CC.  Good luck.

Re: NFCU MEMBERSHIP PROCESS

I went through this. You are lucky they thought to do it early. Everything will work out fine if the documents are in place and they were able to reactivate his membership. It's a pain now, but when I verified they told me there is a huge problem with people trying to sneak in illegitimately, they are very aggressive about protecting those people who are eligible.

Re: NFCU MEMBERSHIP PROCESS

Yes, I a happy that this process is being done before granting me membership. Although they did not ask for my brothers information, I sent it in any way. We live an hour away from the nearest branch so if we have to, we will walk the documents in as well. I'm just happy that everything is legit!!!!! We both live at the same address but I have no proof of proving that so I sent in birth certificates which list us as having them same mother.

This is my final application.
