NFCU Requested Proof of Income for CLI - Is This Good or Bad???

So, I stepped out of the garden for a NFCU CLI increase, it went to 24 hour review.  Two days went by heard nothing and saw nothing but the EQ hard pull, thought it was a big fat no.  Then today my phone rings from a strange number.  It's NFCU telling me that they need to see proof of income, either my last two payroll statments or my 2015 tax return and all supporting schedules.

My current limit is $5,000 and I requested the maximum amount online.  My EQ fico 08 was 707 at the time of AR.  Had the account since the beginning of July.  Does it sound like they might give me a small increase or am I just going to send these documents off and still be told, sorry no can do.  Does anyone have any experience with NFCU when it comes to providing proof of income?

I'm hoping someone has been through this before and has some encouraging (or not) experiences while I wait on pins and needles.

Hey atleast it's not a decline , so there is most definitely a chance or they wouldn't bother asking for.your POI. Good luck to you !

From what I've read, if you try and go over $25K on a card, that's when they start asking for POIs. How much did you request on the CLI?

Since people have been approved and denied after sending proof of income I'd say it can go either way, but if your income is good and your history with them is good I'd say you have a good shot at a decent CLI. The only way it would be a guaranteed negative outcome is if you misstated your income. Roll the dice, send the proof and see how you fair, best of luck I hope you get a nice CLI.

I never misstate my income, I usually just put my salaried income that is easy to prove with my paychecks.  I also receive an annual bonus but didn't include that on my request.  I can prove what the prior amounts were and that it is consistent but never want to go through the hassle - it's just easier to understate it, IMO.

Proof has been sent.  But lesson learned, I'm never doing max amount again, I'll just shoot for an amount and be done with it.  I don't like this waiting and I certainly don't want them to review and someone decides they don't like something that day and does a CLD.  I'm paranoid like that though.

I've done max several times. It's either approved or denied. No POI to $26k.

+1 Sorry I missed that in the OP. I've done that before, and everytime except for 1 they asked to pull a credit report and I told them no. The last time it was a SP to $25K with the max button, no POI needed.

+1

I had a similarly 'odd' experience when I used the 'max' button on my one and only CLI request with them back in September.

In my case it also went to review, and a couple of days later (and a HP) I logged in to see they had given me an increase... my new limit was $20k.  This was actually what I would have asked for had I not clicked 'max', so it turned out OK.

A few days later I got an AA letter in the mail stating that they were unable to give me the increase I had requested, but had increased my limit to $20k instead (which I was aware of) and if I didn't want this I could call and they would revert my limit to what it was previously.  This told me that apparently when we click 'max' an actual figure is populated on the back-end, which I felt (and still feel) was what drove my request to review (and a HP).

I know the 'max' button has worked well for many people, but it seems to be YMMV.  In my own case I don't see myself ever going 'back to the well' again - I'm quite happy at $20k - but if I were to I definitely would enter an amount rather than use the 'max' button.
