NFCU closed checking account = CC Denial?

Greetings

To keep it simple can you get denied for Credit Cards and Credit Limit increases if you have a closed checking account with a balance with NFCU?

I know its two different services with NFCU but when I apply for a new card and Credit Limit increases they say "reaches maximum allowed unsecured Credit " or something like that .

I know my scores always play apart just wondering do they take into consideration the closed account with a balance even if it's with one of their checking accounts.

When you say "closed checking with a balance", are you saying you have a closed checking account with a negative balance (you owe them money)? If yes.....while you can get that message without a "checking account with a balance", Im sure that is playing a role in your denials.

Yes, it was a checking account that was negative $500 for too long and got closed out. I still owe the $500 for that account

While Nfcu is known for being generous for approvals with rebuilders and thin files, they are also known for wanting their money if you burn them. They will not forgive and forget. If you want a cli and future products, I would pay the balance owed on the checking account.

Good luck op.

I'd imagine things will probably change when you pay them their $500.

Cant expext them to give out the green when you are in the red. Navy is most generous but as we often say, dont burn them or they can be the devil- Momma saysSmiley Wink

I'd pay the $500 back ASAP.
