I applied for a cash Rewards Visa account. Figured since my score was decent (715) that I *may* have a chance, but now I know they have their own score (253/450 on theirs). The only reason listed for the denial was my BK, discharged in Jan 2017. I understand the other reasons (such as not being a member for more than a week) on the "other adverse factors" list on the next page, but do they generally deny anything with a BK attached?

I was told by their reps that people have opened an account the same day they apply for credit/loans. ???

Was your bk 7 or 13?

They're friendly to a degree. I have 3 cards with them; BK discharge August 2019. I opened my checking and savings account June 2020. I didn't "prequal" for anything besides the nRewards so I got that September 2020. After 3 full billing statements, I applied for More Rewards and was approved for 12.5k. Applied for the Go Rewards card in July, approved for same limit, and then following my nRewards upgraded to Cash Rewards in August. My Cash Rewards approval(I think) prompted the upgrade as I was pushing a year since I was approved.

Oh, and it didn't show I was prequalified for either of those cards. I just cold app'd after viewing similar datapoints.

I applied in december and was approved for a 3700 16.99 cash rewards with a bk7 disc 12/2019. I think they are bk friendly depending on the rest of your profile, my internal NAVY score was 294

Re: NFCU not BK friendly?

I believe this is YMMV. But, I definitely would not say they are not BK friendly. I got a secured card with them directly after my discharge and 1 year after I got the More Rewards, but prior to that my nRewards upgraded to CashRewards which is the one i still have. And then recently I applied for the Flagship and it was instant approved. I wouldn't say they are sensitive to inquiries either LOL I'm a dare devil at this point I have 35 inquiries (yikes!!!!) lol as a matter of fact i have double digit inquiries on all of the CRAs.

I also bank with NFCU though so they can see my consistent source of income. Just recently opened a business account with them as well.

Another I would have to say is great too is PenFed same deal just recently got approved for PCR with them last month I believe with all these same DPs lol inquiries everywhere LOL...both where system instant approvals. I'd say give it a month and try again but thats just me.
