I just open the Navy Federal credit union checking and savings account and I would like to know when can you apply for a credit card or personal loan. My credit score has dropped significantly because of max out cc. What does your credit score has to be to apply for a card or loan. I really want to pay off my cards and close some of them. If anyone has nfcu cc please tell me what I can do.
You can apply immediately. I personally was declined for CC but my DW was approved for NFCU cashRewards $500SL after 30 days of having our checking. Im not sure if you can get the card sooner because that just happened to be with our BK Chap 7 was discharged also. Asked them to pull TU which she had 590 at the time
Ditto on same day apps.
Keep both your credit and your body in top shape!
I opened my accounts the same day and applied for nRewards (7K) approved, CLOC (6K) approved and refinanced my truck for 22K and approved. All with 1 day of membership. Dont be afraid just because you are new. Took another hit 2 months later and got approved for CashRewards with a 1K starting balance since upped to 2K. CLOC is now at 15K and nRewards is at 8K.

Congrats on your approval for the checking/savings account with NFCU!!!
Based on the information on the forum, you can apply for loan/credit card immediately. Maybe you want to hold off on doing it since you stated your score has significantly dropped because of maxed out credit cards. What is your plan? Are you going to consolidate your balances onto one credit card via a BT offer? Use the loan to pay off your credit cards? Applying for a loan or a credit card may not be the best solution to your current situation.
What are your current scores? How much do you owe in credit card debt? High balances and low scores could have a negative impact on your application for a credit card and/or loan right now. IMHO, I would focus on paying down/off your current balances before applying for a loan/credit with NFCU to increase your chances of approval. Best of luck on your journey!!!
I just opened a checking and savings account with them this afternoon. Went home, setup my online access, and immediately applied for the cash rewards Visa...instantly approved for $1,900 with EQ score of 618. Two collections, one charge off, but excellent history this year. Could not be more pleased. The service at my local branch was exceptional and honestly, the friendliest and best banking experience I've ever had. Very impressed. My husband and I are now probably going to move all our banking to NFCU, I'm that happy with them.
Thanks to everyone on this fine forum...I would never have known about NFCU otherwise!
Welcome to the NFCU family. You will find that there are people on here who know a lot about NFCU and there cycle for CLIs. Credit Addict is from what i have learned the most knowledgable. A lot of people have learned from him and there own trials so you can ask anything and you will get rapid responses to them.
I have a 619 TU will they approve me for a membership? TU is my worst one.
