CreditKevin -- my story/history is not dissimilar to yours.  Strong AAoA, one account with a few old late pays, only two recent accounts.  My Experian was 776 (also my strongest score by a wide margin) at time of app with NASA and I got denied.  Not sure about your location, but you might want to check Credit pulls to see what Chase pulls for your state.  Often Chase will pull only Experian, but in my case they double pulled TU and Experian.  I got approved by Chase, and denied by NASA so you may want to check it out.  Good luck.

Thanks for the reply and the info, dreamingjean.  I'm in MA, and I did check the pulls database ("CPDB" perhaps?) already.  Although it seems that EX would be most likely for a Chase card out here, it is far from certain that's the one they'd pick, or that they would only pull one.  My logic at the moment is that it might make sense to try NASAFCU, even knowing that they might not find my EX file to be just right for them, bc it should only cost me a soft pull or two, which essentially is nothing at all.  I actually called them yesterday and the CSR told me it would two hard pulls unless I applied for the CC first, in which case it would be one HP.  Pretty much exact opposite of what I've heard everywhere else, which I told her, and she said it's been this way for as long as she can remember.  RIght now I am choosing to believe that she is misinformed.  May try back today and see if I can get another opinion.  If you don't mind my asking, when NASA rejected you, what did they cite as their reason?

The said it was "limited credit experience and/or comparable credit".  I am a AU on a Platinum Amex with with perfect history since 93 on my report.  But at time I applied my newly approved Chase Freedom, CSP and BOA accounts were not yet reporting.  I had a Credit One ($950) and Comenity ($2k) both 14 mos old with perfect history on my report.  One old closed Cap One account with a few late pays.  My scores were TU 687, Eq 703, and Exp 776.  I've also since gotten approval for US Bank ($5K).  NASA has been my only denial, but it was a SP.  Hope this helps, and let us know what you decide and how it turns out.  Good luck.

My my my.  Well that is certainly helpful information.  Exactly what I might have hoped for when i turned to this forum, so very much appreciated.  If you were denied for that, I honestly don't see how I would get approved, as i have even less current history than you do, and my EX score is lower as well.  But there doesn't seem to be a clear pattern over there at NASA, and with the likelihood that it's a soft pull, I may just give it a go anyway.  But it does seem like I ought to wait for my latest account to show up so they at least have something to chew on.  Will update with any results if/when I pull the trigger.
