Hey all, I've just recently gotten in with NFCU and I called today to ask about credit cards. They told me they have no way to prequalify? The front line customer service agent transferred me to a credit card agent who gave me that information. Is this accurate, or should I call back? Don't want to cold app 😬
Sorry, Navy prequals are hit and miss. Most people dont get them so if you are waiting for one you may never get a Navy card. Im still not convinced they exist but some have reported being told they have them, then apply then approved. Just let your profile speak for you , you should be fine![]()
I understand why you wouldn't want to cold app, but if there's a card you really want/need and if your profile supports it, than you should go for it.
It depends on who you talk to, I've called before and they said there's no way to check. But then I've also called and they said yes we can check for you.
Last time I called they checked and said I wasn't pre-qualified for anything. However I applied anyway and was approved. If you really want a certain card I would just go for it.
(Mod cut - not here please). I've been calling Navy for the past 2 days spoke with probably over 4 different Reps. They do have the prequal but it has been down since at least Tues from when I started calling about it. I even called today and the site is still down so whoever told you they don't have it maybe were saying the site was down or they didn't know what the heck they were talking about.

Just always seems to be system is down when asking about prequals. 🥴
I called to check a charge on the phone and asked the CSR if I had any pre approvals, she read off the basic disclosure about checking my credit with a SP that I had to agree to and within a few seconds she came back with you're pre approved for all of our cards... Now I have a Navy Flagship Card!

Just always seems to be system is down when asking about prequals. 🥴
Maybe that's their way of dealing with members who don't have a prequal. It's easier to tell someone a tool is down and they are welcome to submit an app than to tell them they don't have a prequal and then have to deal with the fallout from that response. 🤷♂️
