I spoke with an NFCU rep regarding a CLI I requested after my acct was open 85 days. Rep gave me a few confirmations:

They are now pulling EQ for cards and TU for loans and CLOC.

You will be auto denied a CLI and no HP or SP if your acct is newer than 90 days.

She also said you cannot get a 2nd card until 6 months (forum feedback seems contradictory unless this is new)

For CLIs they look at the following on a HP:
Your FICO
Your credit utili
Your current NFCU pay history and utili

Thought Id share. She provided this info unprompted.

Thanks for this. I'm considering joining NFCU next year and going for the Cash Rewards Visa, so this is helpful. As to credit utilization, would that be overall or for Navy Fed cards specifically?

Re: Heres info from NFCU

You should join now! Start getting history under your belt...even though it doesnt really help or hurt your chances of credit peoducts with them..

To answer your question, it is not only the credit utilization on your credit report but also your Navy utilization at the time of the request for CLI or app. She also said that super high NFCU card utilization is absolutely a factor but if your like me and have a history of making 5 or 6 payments each month and bringing the balance down low or to zero, they take that into consideration.

I can confirm they pulled TU for the CLOC last night and EQ for CC app.

I joined NFCU in February.  They gave me a CLI and a second card at 90 days.

Re: Heres info from NFCU

I'm still waiting for the verification from St. Louis (personnel records center) on my father's service record. When I get that, I'll see about joining NFCU. (EDIT: Disregard that last sentence. I really do need to wait until after New Year's because NFCU usually does HP's for new accounts and I don't want to risk that while I'm gardening.)

Re: Navy Federal UPDATED CLI and 2ND ACCOUNT THREAD

Does Navy do mid-cycle reporting to the CRAs?  My Cash Rewards recently reported with 70% utilization but I had sent two payments which were not credited when the statement cut on 8/4.  I currently have a credit balance of $418 but the CRAs show high utilization.  Normally this wouldn't be a big deal since it would be corrected next month but I'm thinking of requesting a CLI after the AR next month so I'm trying to get the best EQ FICO 9 score possible.  Currently its reported as 751 on PenFed and 750 Navy (both scores from July).

How much time should you wait between CLI requests?
