Re: Navy Federal Thread for CLI and Additional Cards

Ok, I am calm but I just received my flagship denial letter and it is WEIRD.

Perhaps I and others can learn from this...

i scored 333 on Navy’s scale of 100-450  (huh?)

Limited Credit Expierence.  (AAoA 4 years - 15 cards, car loan, student loans)

Average Credit Limit on Open Cards 12 months.  ($10k average?, 5 cards at $10k+)

Open Credit Union Trades  (0)

No Real Estate Account  (Mortgage in Wife’s Name, House in Both Names)

Number of Inquiries  (2)

DTI 27%

UTL 14-16%

O lates

is is this just complete nonsense or their way to say that they don’t really want me because I am not military?

I am not mad, just here to learn...

Rebuild started in 2014  -  $100k unsecured credit in 2017  -  $500k unsecured credit in 2024.

In a nutshell...    They want some history with you on a lower limit card first.     I'd say the high unsecure amount you have spooked them a little, but with 6 month of good history and payments over the minimum, you'll be prime for Navy luv.

Re: Navy Federal Thread for CLI and Additional Cards

The CU relationship, personally held alot of weight in comparing my results with my wife's. I started at 7800 and she received 1k. Her score was much better than mine but she lacked any CU relationships and I had 5 or so paid on time loans and an active CU loan at the time of app. I feel like it held alot of weight and in her letter it referenced the lack of CU relationship.

I'll echo Jago on that as well.. Your second card will most likely be a monster after alittle love.

Re: Navy Federal Thread for CLI and Additional Cards

The ironic part is our mortgage is through a credit union.  LOL.

I also find 333 a lot closer to 450 than 100,

I wonder what the required score is?  350?  375?

That's irony for you.     No idea what the internal score threshold is, but i highly doubt that is the issue in this case.

I don't know what to say about that - I agree it makes no sense.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would be tempted to drop them a SM asking them to reconsider (either the Flagship or your CR credit line)... that has been know to work at times.

Compared to mine your internal score looks decent enough. I think mine was 328 or 338 when they gave me another 18K in CLI at month 7. That put my total revolving w/them at 60+ K.

Thanks!  I sent a letter asking for a review.  No dice.  Very frustrating, but I will give them 90 days + 90 days and see what happens.

nfcu maximum unsecured credit limit confusion

at 96/3 I requested a cli on my nfcu platinum to 25k. I received received a 10k increase (6800 to 16800) and a secure message for recon did not change their mind about increasing to 25k. I was going to apply for a second card or CLOC, but decided to wait for the explanation letter.

received the letter today with the reason stating "you've reached Navy Federal's maximum unsecured limit." they pulled 780 from EQ.

I'm confused in that does this mean the maximum unsecured limit mean for that card or with nfcu overall? meaning if I apply for a second card or CLOC I will be denied?
