Re: Navy Federal Thread for CLI and Additional Cards

So I wound up requesting cli on both my gorewards and cash rewards. Only got approved on the cash rewards. I figured as the gorewards still has an 80% bal and did have a late payment last year. My cash rewards went from 1700 to 5100. Now I'm thinking of just taking one more hp to either get another navy card or possibly try at chase as I'd like to start a relationship with them. I'm also looking at getting a new car relatively soon but don't know if I should do a new card first or do the car loan first. Decisions, decisions

Re: Navy Federal Thread for CLI and Additional Cards

Hi and welcome
IDK but 80%UT on any card is a no-no. So I think you’d waste a HP, maybe 2, on applying for a Chase CC. And, IMHO, you should get the UT down before applying for another NFCU card.

My significant other got her CashRewards Visa on April 25th so today is 91 days after and has had 3 statements.  Thinking about pulling the trigger tonight or tomorrow.  Her current limit is $500 and has better scores than me.

My NFCU journey is ahead of hers so I got my first card in March and in early June my $500 card I increased to $1,500 and got approved for a more Rewards Amex for $20k.  So hoping for similar results.

Should we wait until tomorrow morning?

OK we did it this morning.  CLI on her CashRewards from $500 to $1,500.  New More Rewards Amex for $10k.

Ask for CLI first, wait and see if it's approved (if your available credit isn't reflecting it in 2 days, it was denied), then submit new card app.

If you don't want for the CLI to clear the review, you can get instantly approved for a new card at your max internal limit and thus denied a CLI.

Re: Navy Federal Thread for CLI and Additional Cards

Anyone know what CL NFCU starts requiring a POI?

I want to build with them but don't really want to deal with POI nonsense.

What about when combining credit cards?

Flagship is all I need but I want to build a high CL as my main card.

Gotta start making plans for 91 days from now.  Smiley Happy

Thanks!

Rebuild started in 2014  -  $100k unsecured credit in 2017  -  $500k unsecured credit in 2024.

NFCU asks for POI beyond $25K usually but not always.
