I was going to utilize the cashRewards card for it since the cash advance APR is technically lower than the cloc for my instance. And it would be just for emergency purposes only, as I would have it deposited into my account.@Matt9543 Yes, whatever best fits your credit goals is great. It's nice to have the padding since it really shouldn't be used and won't ever be cancelled for non-use. If it doesn't fit your credit goals then it might make more sense not to get it
With regards to the NFCU CLOC, is Direct Deposit required, preferred, or not needed at all? If preferred, would a regular ACH transfer do the job? Thanks!
I've had mine for over a year and got approved at $1500. Originally tried for $5000, got denied and tried again for $1500 and got approved. Did both attempts with an hours of one another, got 1 HP from it. Haven't been able to get an increase on it, while getting approved for another card and CLI's since in excess of $20,000+. I always got back a confusing denial reasoning and never got an answer back the many times I asked on what their denial actually meant. I finally got a response back recently on what my decline reasoning meant indicating that they based the CLoC off of internal attributes that includes, but not limited to: length of membership, active duty status and direct deposit - along with indicating that they will give the bare minimum of $500 with/(out?) taking these factors into consideration.
Now obviously there are some people that you see that say they signed up and immediately got approved for the max $15000 or something else. So not sure if this is something new(er) that they're doing or maybe just something in regards to getting a CLI on it after the initial approval, that these factors they mentioned come into play.
Also a lot of people will indicate "shoot for the moon and they'll counter" and while that may be the case for some, it has proven to not be for others (myself included). Seems to be a 50/50 crapshoot that they'll do this. I've ready many other posts that indicated they asked for $X amount and got denied, just to turn around and re-submit it for a lower amount and instantly get approved for the lesser amount. So if you do shoot for the moon (which definitely recommended) and get denied and receive no counter, try to submit another ASAP for a lesser amount. Appears that if you do it quick enough (with in 24ish hours?), it's the one case that NFCU doesn't get HP trigger happy and WILL recycle the HP. At least from what I've read and again, my personal experience but ofcourse, YMMV.
They gave me more on my CLOC than my first card. My EQ is much better than my TU.
Asked for $15k per forum. They countered with $5k. My MR card was only approved with a $1k limit.
I have a baddie on TU none on EQ.
No HP alerts as of yet.

Congrats!
Is the "do not meet our lending critea" message still an indication of possible too early? Been helping my mom out with her credit and today marked 3/91. Application was met with that and no HP. The CLI request went to review.
Recall reading that was the case, but also found posts indicating a message clearly stating "too early". Did find one that mentioned they believed it seemed to be down to the minute for the 3/91 and kind of hoping that to be the case. Thinking I may have jumped the gun and done it too early in the day or possibly a day early since she apped for the first one technically late night our time, but early morning EST. So technically I had her app for the 2nd one about 20 hours too early if that be the case.
It could mean internal score too low, DTI not aligned, or applied too early.
What does DM scores and UT look like?

@mikesonthemend wrote:Again with regard to the CLOC, how does this pertain to 91/3? My understanding is after 91/3 you can apply for a new card and a CLI. Where does the CLOC fit in? Does it take place of CC, or can all three take place at 91/3?
Thanks!
CLOC has nothing to do with 91/3. You can apply for a CLOC any time.
+1 The CLOC is handled more like an unsecured loan. It pulls EQ and doesn't affect the cards.

0% across the board.
TU = 620ish last I was able to check. Shouldn't have gone down at all.
You still get a HP on the app though if it's DTI or a score issue - don't you? I know I've gotten hit enough by them when it was the case for me. Why I'm thinking/hoping it might be the "too early" scenario, especially since we did it at 11PM our time, which would have been 1AM EST - that sweet spot right between was it today or tomorrow? Only thing that has me thinking it might be something else is the CLI going to review instead of instant denial.

@Anonymous As HP happy as Navy is, the only times i didn't get an HP was when it was too early. Any other reason and i had the HP like clockwork. Not saying that is why you haven't yet, but it sounds that way. If it was going to review it would say that, and you would have an HP alert i'm sure.
Still not used to the CLI's having SP now.
