Re: Navy Federal Thread for CLI and Additional Cards

Based on @800wannabe420 's post I decided to pull the trigger on an application. The response I got wasn't terribly encouraging - we'll let you know in 24 - 48 hours. That sounds better than Amex's 7 - 10 day letter, but still not an instant approval. At least they pulled my best score, TU @ 727. So I sit and wait it seems.

This type of waiting period has been normal as of late.  Sit back and forget about it for a few days.  I am sure there are things you can think of to preoccupy your mind.  At this point, what did you actually apply for?

I went for the gusto and tried for the Flagship. Maybe I should've contained my hubris...

Nah, you took your shot.. wait & see how it goes!  You definitely have the current limiys to meet the 5K minimum.

When was the date you opened your newest revolving account?  How long have you had those limits on the cards in your signature? That was the only thoughts I had when reading through the post.

I do like the More Rewards however I am very happy with my Flagship!

Don't be discouraged!  NFCU is so backed up now even CLI requests are taking a day or so to process. NFCU is not shy about denying on the spot so a 24-48 hour delay does not mean much at all.

Got my fingers crossed and expect to see a new thread in the Approvals section soon! 😀

Agree 1000+!!! It's a different climate and there are several reports of a review and then a card approval. They definitely know how to say no immediately. I have experience with this lol!! Watch your phone/email for the update! Sending you good thoughts for a nice new FS and great SL!! Smiley Wink

Oh Lordy, it's only been since April that I got the NFCU Platinum with the $15K SL. It feels like it's been an eternity. Must be because of the way the world is spinning down the drain.

I have had some kind of NFCU account for a year, but didn't get a CC from them until this past April (2020.) I really thought it was longer than that, probably because I've had checking/savings for a while.

Everyone sticks there toe into the water at some point.  They are not going to obliterate you with a machine gun 😁

Opening your Platinum back in April is enough time to have 91/3.   Now the ball is in Navy's court just as it would be when applying at any other institution.  Wishing you luck!

Suggesting a new one since they were asking for feedback. I have a Plat, answered several questions and I truthfully said I love my platinum because it has a low APR, so if I choose to carry a balance that’s my card to do so.

It also asked which other CCCs I have CCs with and which card gets most of my spend and why and any feedback yada yada, and you know I let them know it would be nice to have a rotating card for 5% that they would get a lot more swipes.

But I truthfully stated myself and almost everyone loves Navy. So totally positive review with 5% rotator suggestion.

I have the Platinum as well (will be five years this fall) and the Go Rewards (was two years last month) and what would get my attention would be the ability to transfer points between the Flagship Visa, More Rewards Amex, and Go Rewards.

If I could earn points on all of them either in the same bucket (like Amex) or transfer points between cards (like Chase and Wells Fargo) that would put them back into rotation with me for probably half my monthly spend (after some PCs, of course).
