Is it still appearing to be SP CLI's? I have seen the DP supporting that, but have not seen anybody posting about a HP. Curious if they've for sure stopped with the HP's for CLI. Also, has anybody gotten one from having their reports frozen? I believe before they used Equifax but that's moving to TransUnion it looks like, so is it worthwhile to unfreeze the report for the CLI request as well?

From everything I've seen over the last 120 days, as long as you request online, CLI's are SP.  If you call and speak to someone, it may result in a HP.  If you're eligible, I would suggest doing so online, keeping in mind the aforementioned date/statement criteria and the typical $4000 CLI max or less if your initial CL is under $2000

Re: Navy Federal UPDATED CLI and 2ND ACCOUNT THREAD

Also, I guess I could ask for your advice on this as well. I already have the AMEX Blue Cash Preferred, which basically gives me more or equal amount back on the More Rewards, minus the dining portion, which is all I'm using this card for. Do you see any benefit moving to the Go Rewards? I was looking to possibly getting the World Mastercard, but wasn't sure if it's worth calling and getting the product switched.

NFCU Timing Confusion Help

Hey, everyone! I'm getting ready to apply for a second NFCU credit card (and ask for a CLI on current card), and need some assistance! I'm getting some conflicting info and also getting lost in the super long Navy threads here.

To add to the confusion, yesterday I called NFCU and a CSR told me she knew nothing about the 91/3 thing and that I could apply for anything at anytime and ask for CLI at anytime. I just figured maybe she didn't know about it, or it just wasn't something they talk about. She also said she didn't know which score they used. Anyway...Here are my Navy DPs...

Started NFCU membership July, 20 2020

Approved for More Rewards $3000 SL July, 20 2020

First purchase on card August 7, 2020

Third credit card statement cut November 4, 2020

Am I clear to apply for a new card and then ask for CLI on existing card? Thanks in advance!

@yorobbie

They use TU for new accounts and EQ for CLI as of lately they have not been doing HPs for CLIs but that's subject to change . It will be a HP for new card. Your timeline it's safe to apply . I would go for card first then CLI.

As for the 91/3 that's the standard but it's best to not ask them and keep those tidbits to the forums .

Re: NFCU Timing Confusion Help

I've read the success of the 91/3 in several places, and only 6 months in others so I'm unsure. From my experience - I spoke with a CSR almost 3 mos ago, and was told that you can request first CLI after 90 days then every 6 months thereafter. As long as you're using the card regularly and PIF (or keeping low Util) each month, NFCU doesn't disappoint. Just take everything you've read with a grain of salt, and go for it.

Re: NFCU Timing Confusion Help

@yorobbie       Just make sure it's 3 FULL statements so even if it shows 3 statements you need to make sure your first one is a FULL one (one that has an amount due and more details on it etc) and 91 days past overall and be sure to app for the Card FIRST, then ask for the CLI part ONLINE for a possible SP, if you call for the CLI it will likely be a HP from DPs I have seen.

So long as you have 3 FULL statement cuts and at least 91 days, you can request a cli and or app a second card.

Your csr was right, you CAN  apply anytime you want  or request cli anytime ... doesnt mean you'll be approved  or be hp'dSmiley Wink.  If you get a cli, you need to wait 6 months to get another one , if approved, or you will get recent change to account denial , or max limit denial

Easy cli process with Navy...

Lock reports and request.....

If they ask to unlock, will be hp. If not request, approval or denial... spSmiley Wink

Re: Navy Federal UPDATED CLI and 2ND ACCOUNT THREAD

I am 1 year out of Ch7, had a secured card, unsecured at 5 months with $2K limit, been keeping util under 10%, PIF each month, and 6 months after the unsecuring (beginning of this month) requested a CLI (it was a SP - through the mobile app) and got a CLI to $4,500 (I had requested $20K - which is what I read on another Forum should be the request).     It was easy-peasy, and I'll do it again in another 6 months.

NFCU is very good to have.
