Hey I did my credit limit increase today. When going for auto loan should I ensure I put the same annual salary amount?

Also how long does it take to get approval with auto loan?

Why would you change your income declared for auto?  Dont. Always be honest with Navy   ,  less problems later as well.

Also please leave Auto questions for the Auto subforum as this post is geared toward Navy credit cards and their cli. Thank you.

I'll share my data points on getting the flagship. From what I've read and learned from others on this forum, the Flagship min credit line required was $5k with other cards before applying for the flagship. So, I opened a checking and savings with NFCU in February of 2019. Did the nRewards card with a $200 security deposit. After it graduated in august (IIRC) to the cash rewards and a $2000, i applied for the more rewards in November once i was passed my 91/3. Applied for the More Rewards and got a SL of $15k.  Waited for my 91/3 which was march of 2020 and applied for the flagship. Approved instantly with a $15k SL. Every 91 days, I've been asking for a CLI on all my cards since its all been SP.

I thought we needed to wait 6 mo for second CLI requests? So you have been getting 2nd, 3rd, 4th...CLI at 91 days on your NFCU cards?

Navy does not give cli every 3 months no matter how good ones profile is. Only way is if by chance the 6 month wait period  on one card happens to fall around the 91 day period of another card. Navy still adheres to 6 month policy on cli after one is received.

@Anonymous I had a $1000 starting limit and it graduated to $2,000. CLI was denied at graduated. The only reason on denial letter was recent credit limit increase.

I didn't get a CLI every time I requested. They were smaller ones. From $15k to $19k to $23k to ultimately $27k.

Re: Navy Federal Thread for CLI and Additional Cards

I requested my CLI yesterday 19hrs ago. Patiently waiting.  My equifax went from 703 to 708 today. I'm thinking should I go ahead and apply for auto loan today or wait for the CLI results?

Also I seen a video four months ago where you didn't have to enter an amount for the CLI but instead just typed a recon message when did that change if you know?

Thanks In advance

I tried for a second card right before graduation. No soup. Waiting til my BK7 is two years post discharge before I try again.

My first card was a Platinum.  The credit limit was smaller than I wanted to do a balance transfer so I wrote them about it.  Initially that was rejected then they reconsidered it and raised it from about $4000 to $10,000.

My first credit limit increase (CLI) attempt was in late February 2021 and they rejected it based upon a recent increase or something like that.  I am assuming that the reconsideration increase was effectively my first CLI so when I tried in February it was rejected.   I will try again in late May 2021 and see if the  limit is increased.

That will also be the three month point for my second card (More Rewards).  I think I will wait an additional month or so before asking for a CLI on that card.

So I've posted about my experiences a few times within this thread, but I'm not as well-versed on NFCU's secured card, which my step-son went with as his first credit card. It was opened right around the new year with the hopes it would graduate not long after he graduates college (mid-May).

He has been responsible with the card, typically using it once a month and always keeping utilization <8.9%. I keep extra eyes on his account to make sure it is paid on time.

Is there anything else to be done, besides just giving it time? I've seen the option to request a CLI - how would this work with a secured card?

@okurosetta, my Navy Fed secured nRewards credit card just graduated last month and I've done a lot of research, so I can answer some of your questions.

Your step-son needs to wait at least 91 days from the date his application for the secured nRewards credit card was approved AND at least 3 full, 25-day billing cycles to request a CLI if he doesn't automatically get a CLI to $500 to $1,000 after 3 full, 25-day billing cycles.  Make sure he locks his CRs before going online to request the CLI.  Tell him not to phone in the CLI, because that usually results in an HP.  Since you mention that this is his first credit card, if he doesn't have a FICO score yet, he's probably not going to be approved for a CLI, because that seems to be one of the criteria for a CLI and graduation.

I really appreciate your reply, and while I'm at it - thank you for your service. Congratulations on your card's graduation as well!

He will be hitting 3 full cycles in a bit over a week, which will also be more than 91 days from the date of his application. I'm not sure he'll want to request a CLI, but definitely good to know about CRs/requesting online.

I've seen a lot of people being graduated at 6 months, but from what you're saying it's at least possible with 3. (Edit: Or is it that a CLI is possible after 3, but graduation takes 6?) His EX FICO 8 is 733 and EQ FICO 9 is 729. He has been having his statement report $15 or $20, which amounts to either 6% or 8% utilization. Does he have a good shot of graduating early? Thank you again in advance.
