I am sure this has been addressed before but this post has quite a few pages😀
Do you go for the CLI on your first card then apply for a second card?

Yes, you ask for the CLI, if instant great, app second card. If not instant, app second card ![]()

Jago22 it’s still a diff pull for cli equifax and to app for a second card witch is the TU anyway
I think it doesn’t matter if u apply before the cli for the second half r after right ?
Yes, they do pull different CR's, however your internal limit with navy will trump they pull. So i have been told this by many navy reps and seen DP's on it as well. The CLI system doesnt take into account your payment history, the new card system does. So you app for the CLI first, to see if you can get instant (sp) and then right after that app the card. I know for myself and others, the CLI is kinda stingy, but the new cards aren't. I have seen time and time again where they get a new card with a much higher SL, even if they dont get the CLI.
Hey everybody... Long time lurker and this is my glorious first post. Be gentle....
First, thanks to everybody for all their input, especially on this subject. I'm still firmly in my rebuilding phase and on a whim, I applied for the AMEX More Rewards through NFCU and to my surprise, got approved for $3,900. My 91st day is May 16th and my 3rd statement cuts on May 19th. I have another credit card that will be reporting a much lower balance on May 22, so I am waiting until May 24th to follow the process and apply for the CLI.
- In the last two months, I have charged (and PIF) about $2,500 -$3,000 each month.
- I have a car loan with them as well that I got at the end of January and I am currently 2 payments ahead.
- The new updated score in NFCU has my EQ FICO 9 at 684
- I'll be at about 10% total utilization when I apply
I'm obviously going for the max CLI and then applying for another card. I really would like the Visa Flagship product that they have because the travel rewards work well for me. Is that card more difficult to qualify for in general, or is it just the minimum starting limit of $5,000 that can present a challenge?
Also.... I understand that if I want the CLOC, I should apply for that at the same time - but I do not want to hurt my chances of getting the second card. Any thoughts on if I should wait to apply for the CLOC until I get word back on the CLI and the new CC?
I think the Flagship is the hardest one to get, I am sure others will chime in with more experience![]()
Good luck and nice job with NCFU so far.

Great Job on your rebuild so far, i was there about a year ago and still now.
As for the CLI and CLOC, those are EQ pulls 98% of the time. A CLOC is good for Util padding as you really dont use it unless you overdraft and obviously that isnt recommended for a anyone, esp a rebuilder. Whether or not you wait on it could be dependant on if your app for the Flagship is instant. If it is then no worries, if not then its upto you if you wait.
New cards are TU pulls 98% of the time. So the only difference for the flagship is the 5k minimum. With Navy that doesnt seem that hard to do, but YMMV. Requirements for the card are literally the same besides that limit. So as long as you can qualify for a card over 5k, then the flagship wouldnt be that much harder to get. If you get an instant CLI(or counter over 5k), then the flagship should be just as easy. I know you mentioned your UTIL, and while its good to keep low, Navy is more about your DTI. As long as that is in check you will have a much better chance at what you are going after.
Cant wait to hear about all your success with this journey.
