Like the title says, I need some help deciding my next move. My credit report is strong, I have 5 personal accounts and am an AU on 2 more. All 5 personal accounts are <1 year old, however my 18 year old Chase AU account brings my AAoA up to a healthy ~3.5 years.
BoA - Feb 2014
Amex - May 2014
Cap One - Dec 2014
Sallie Mae - Jan 2015
BoA BBR - Jan 2015
I have my eye on 2 or 3 more cards. The majority of my budget goes to food. I have groceries and gas covered, but I'd like to add a card for eating out (I'm greedy and my Amex 2% isn't enough )
I came accross the AARP card from Chase. 3% at restaurants sounds fantastic, however the 5% quarter coming up for the Freedom/Discover It also tempts me.
Given that I haven't been rejected yet, I'm tempted to apply for 2 of those 3. However, I've opened 3 new accounts in the last 2 months (only one reporting so far), and don't want to get my accounts looked into when all the dust settles.
So, AARP first, then one of Freedom/Discover in March? Freedom/Discover now, AARP in July? Both Freedom and AARP now? Opinions are appreciated!
BTW Discover It has a $100 Amazon GC signup bonus going on now

Actually, I would take the 0% version of Discover It, very valuable.
AARP and discover. Though I like to add 6 months from my last app,
I don't know if chase will allow two cards at once, it's a roll of the dice.
The AARP, off the AARP site, offers the usual 100 bonus, and 12 months 0%. Don't know about going through the amazon link for discover, but the AARP 0% could offset the lack of 0% on the discover.
Wait 6 months to year, then get really great terms on any chase card you like.
If this is so, then i'm at least twice a winner.

Its definitely a YMMV however i have gotten 3 within 4 months. Freedom - June. CSP - August, Slate - September

5 in 2 months.
Hmm, I'm not really in the market for 0%. I don't have any big purchases coming up and I'd prefer to save the money long term. I'm just looking for maximum rewards when I eat Thanks for the advise. I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger with Chase... Twice.
Wow! Out of curiosity, did they count it as one or two HPs?
I'm a little gunshy about it. Don't know if I'll meet the the required spending without shunning the use of better cards in some positions. I'm already stretching it with the AARP for just eating (~$450 eating out over 3 months). If I can get both for just 1 HP, I'll have some serious thinking to do.

Its always a risky chance. Chase imo is HP happy, but there is the case of someone being able to get 2 for 1.
However someitmes they do multiple pulls, i know for me:
Freedom: EX & EQ
CSP: EX
Slate: EX and CLI(directly after applying) was another HP on EX
they do a internal score once your in with them.

One EX HP per 2 cards for the first 4 cards. I was going to shotgun it on the third go around, but decided 5 Chase cards was enough for now.
