Right. Years ago, people mentioned this would work...if you submitted apps in a very short timeframe, the HPs wouldn't show right away. Nowadays it's instant.
There really is very little benefit to "sprees" at this point, IMO.

Adding credit lines will not automatically improve your credit scores; in fact the opposite is true as there are several new account penalties that will reduce your scores. Additional credit accounts only "thicken" your files but to improve your scores the old rules still apply; pay your bills on time, don't run up excessive debt that you cannot afford to repay.
You can have optimal credit scores with just 3 credit cards and one installment loan.
