Applied for gold card with 50k MR point sign up, in incognito mode. Filled out information, came back just straight declined me! It looks like they did use the same SP from my aspire approval. It says in reason for denial Because of my FICO score and The length of time you have been a customer with American Express is too short.
I had the same explanation when I app'd for the Hilton too soon after getting my ED card. Waiting till after my 3x 61 dealio before I app for the Gold card. Just give your Hilton card some time to grow to establish history with Amex and you should be good to go!

Hi, I got the same reason as well!
How long should I wait for the next application? I got my ED just two months ago in August.
My suggestion would be to DOWNGRADE to the GOLD and keep the GOLD, why would you want a GOLD and a Platinum ?

50k Amex Points is most likely the reason. I had the Gold and the Platinum at the same time and my wife currently has both.
I am sort of a newbie here, but I am curious why get the Gold when you already have the Platinum? I don’t think the sign up bonus is worth paying an additional $250 annual fee along with the Platinum’s fee, but that is just me. The benefits are practically identical, with the Platinum having a few more. I’m just curious.

The Platinum only has one bonus category and that's travel. The new Gold Card offers 4x on dining and grocery where as the Platinum only yields 1x in those very same categories, or all other categories outside of travel for that matter. The benefits are not the same either...Platinum opens up doors when traveling that don't with the new Gold card or it's predecessor, Premier Rewards Gold. No Priority Pass, Delta Lounge, or Centurion with the Gold. No TSA or Global Entry either. The cards are very different and having one doesn't necessarily negate the other if you're spending enough in said categories that outweigh the annual fees associated with them.
