I just Closed on my home and was wondering what is a good time frame to apply for a new credit card?
2 part question
Which credit Reports does amex usually pull from and which ficoversion?
Does capital one do a hard or soft inquiry when asking for limit increase? Have had the card for 12 years.

Congrats on the new home ! No reason to wait now that you've closed. At some point your new mortgage loan will appear on your credit reports, which may slightly lower your AAoA or help your credit mix if it's your only open installment loan.
Also I'm moving this to credit card applications for better visibility.

Cap1 is a SP when asking for a CLI.
AMEX generally pulls EX, although in some cases they'll double pull EX and TU. Their application process has recently changed to allow you to see if you're approved before accepting and incurring a HP.
nice appreciate it!
Thanks! and yeah I figured It would lower my average age. I do have a small student loan installment but it will help my mix for sure!
Since you've already closed..... go for it, but don't go crazy and apply strategically for the cards you want or need.
Best of luck in your new home!!
The Cap1 one CLI would be a SP and you might recieve a large one since its been that long. Amex HPs Experian and TU now and they use the base Fico 8 score, although it might not up to date if you were to check directly with EX and TU.
Starting Score: 512

FIrst amex (at least for me) was EX and TU (double pull). SP for additional cards/CLI's
