This forum has been extremely helpful to me. I am trying to find out the best way to recon my Nordstorm CLI denial. I have been sitting at $300 for a year now. I use the card and pay it off, however I have kept the balance at $0 for about 4 months now. They pulled experian and my score is 644. I have a discharged BK in 2009 and all of my cc are in good standing and have never been paid late. I called customer service and they were very nice but couldn't do anything. I haven't personally tried this, but the store managers, at least at the full line stores, should have contacts at Nordstrom credit with decision making power. If you are close to a store you could try talking to the store manager, and see if they will try to talk to them for you. They have much less control now though since they no longer issue the credit themselves. I used to work at Nordstrom.
It's not too surprising to have a decline with an account with no/low usage and a mid 600s score. The bigger question is why the FICO is still mid 600s. The BK is far enough removed that you should be 700+ unless there are more recent late payments, other collections, or unless your utilization is extremely high.
I would check into that and see what could be resolved to get into that 700+ range. In the mean time, just use other accounts. I wouldn't sweat a single store card. I'd consider it a rebuilding card and move on to others once things improve.
