OK to try for two from Chase?

So I've been gardening for a bit, scores are now 660/674/681, up from high 400s seven months ago. I applied and got a Chase Freedom card. Very happy, since I bank with them. Credit line is a low $1000, but its a foot in the door. I went back on the pre qualify site and shows I'm also qualified for a Slate card. Should I pull the trigger and try? I have one other card, CO secure card with $1k limited and about $30 on it.

Thanks for advice. I couldn't have gotten this far without all the great advice from this forum.

From what I have learned in the forum, having three cards works well when rebuilding credit.

If you don't need the Slate to do a BT than I would hold off on it. Don't lose your 15 months free and 60 day no balance transfer fee for nothing. Honestly, it really serves no other purpose. It's also difficult to obtain a CLI, but YMMV. Thanks for sharing your story! Congrats on your Freedom approval!

I agree with this comment as well.  The Slate is really good for two things - balance transfers and a free FICO score.  There is 0 reward benefits so skip it if you do not need balance transfers.  The free FICO score is convenient but there are other more beneficial cards (ex: Discover) that provide this benefit.

I would hold off on the slate as others have said. Save it for a rainy day so to speak. I would look for a third card elsewhere. Maybe Barclays or Capital One.
