Re: OOPS! Anyone familiar with BOA recons?!

I got my first BoA (Cash Rewards) card with a similar Fico score as you. However, I had 1 very aged paid CO reporting at the time. When the analyst asked about it, I acknowledged my past credit misstep(s) and briefly my plan to be sure it doesn't happen again. While I agree that 6 lates may be excessive, so Fico score is not the only consideration a Bank will use. I would try another reconsideration call and be prepared to fully own those late student loan payments and how you will be a reliable, valuable customer to BoA.

Re: OOPS! Anyone familiar with BOA recons?!

Theres nothing wrong with recon but you have to be realistic. BOA is a tough bank and OP has several lates that demonstrate past inability to pay obligations. Doesnt bode well. Nor do the inquiries or the scores themselves. Im not trying to discourage OP but this app was likely a waste, unless they get a super nice analyst.

But this card is not really worth getting upset over, anyway. Yes its a nice return for small spend, but it would never be anyones daily driver or anything. Its nothing that OP can't wait for. He has a lot of decent cards.

We've both made our points, its up to OP how they want to proceed. It's not our place to determine what somebody else needs since that's highly subjective/personal.

Right. But even if they really want the card, my point was I dont see it happening right now. But im not BOA. Maybe theyll surprise me.

It was 12 lates, not 6. Plus a bunch of inquiries, fairly low score, and low AaoA. Not much to work with there for a recon.

They're really not a tough bank, what other bank lets me get four of their biggest money losers? Citi is probably harder to get in with, and are much harder for churn these days with their 18 month waiting periods.

Eh, if OP is going to garden for a least 2 years, he should try a different card...or not, and just garden.

BofA is way easier than Citi that is known.. Worth another recon or two.. You took the HP and your score and profile isn't awful.. It isn't great, but have seen alot of other people with a worse profie at least get the 99/500 offer, if not better..  Recon it IMO.

I thought BOA was fairly conservative and especially with baddies on reports. There's nothing wrong with recon but to recon, you need to have a good leg to stand on. OP has fairly low scores, little AAOA to speak of, a ton of inquiries, and a ton of lates. How is someone in that position really poised to argue for a card? They should feel lucky to have what they do have (which is a nice set of cards, and is why I said BBR can surely wait).

I mean sure, there's no harm in calling again but I don't think the answer is going to change.
