Odd Report Address Issue - How To Handle on App

I want to minimize chance of complications in credit card approval. Just pulled all three of my reports. I have two addresses. My home address which I've been at 2.5 years and my mailing address (a mail scan and/or forwarding service since I travel a lot). My existing 4 cards are in my mailing address that I setup 3 years ago (although most those banks also know my home address.)

On both my TU and EX report it shows my "current address" as my  mailing address reported over 2 years ago and my home address as an alternate address reported less than 2 years ago.  Experian seems to just list all addresses I was ever associated with and the report makes no distinction if current or when addresses were reported. Do they report additional info like TU and EQ or is what I'm seeing what the creditor will?

Typically apps ask for your home address and how long you've been there.  Which one should I use? If I use home and they pull TU or EX  both won't match my current and report will indicate less than 2 years. Does it not really matter as long as the address matches any on the report? Or should I use the mailing address reported as my current address?

Re: Odd Report Address Issue - How To Handle on App

After correcting all my typos (using mobile argh!) I'm going to use logic to answer my own question and anyone can chime in if they think this is off.

I believe all card applications ask for home address. Answer truthfully and leave it at that.

Credit report new address dates can be reported far after moving.  If they want to verify over two years can provide utility bills

I just prefer to not jump through hoops when possible and get instant approval. If app address not matching current address just triggers verification review not the end of the world as long as it doesn't increase denial.

as long as the addresses ur using is on ur credit reports, ur fine. . the time its been reported since, does NOT matter. sometimes a creditor will still ask for proof of address even if its been reporting for years on file. the way experian works with their 'list of addresses' is in no certain order as I was told, along with employers, the list is just that, a list. it does not tell you current employer or former, like you see on MyEquifax. TransUnion and Equifax are the only ones that seem to have a "current address" and "former address" btw. they have public records they usually use lexisnexis, its called "Accurint" . its basically a non-verified public records that banks use to verify your identity, thats why they ask you, have you lived at ... _ or what county have you ever resided in. Etc this is where they get these questions from i dont know if that additional information helps you but wanted to let you know about it. There's also 2 LexisNexis Reports (1 is 'verified' insurance info, etc, and 1 is 'non-verified' like i said. you'd have to ask specfically for which 1 u want in the mail). but yeah i dont know where ur getting this 2 year address reporting and ur good to go lol.

Re: Odd Report Address Issue - How To Handle on App

Well, I live this firsthand, so I'll add my .02 FWIW.

Depends on the remailing service you're using. We're full time RV'ers, and use Americas Mailbox out of SD. They supply a personal mailbox that has their address and the addition of PMB xxxxx. Similar to a Box #. I can say definitively that numerous lenders have the main address -regardless of using PMB, Apt, Unit, etc. flagged as a commercial remailer, and as such will deny cards, loans, and accounts. This goes back to Patriot Act "Know your customer" FINCEN regulations as it is at it's heart a PO box which is not acceptable. Wells Fargo, Chase, Capital One, AmEx, Discover all have issues with it. For them I use my old address with my PMB as mailing. NFCU, Citi, Venmo, Paypal, all are fine with the PMB. It's a hit/miss.

Problem obviously is a new CC application as an example. You supply the physical address and frequently you can't access the account until you recieve the card to set a mailing address. So you're stuck in that quandary of using the address you're not at (and frequently there's a forwarding block on financial mail), vs getting a denial because they don't accept the remailing service.Haven't found a way around it personally.
