Hi everyone,
I cannot emphasize how this forum has revolutionized my credit file. I have gotten rid of 2 collections accounts and many CLI's and PC's because of people from this forum. I have been a good boy making on time payments since Apr 2014. I have multiple recent lates (Apr 2014 being most recent 60-Day late), one paid collection and a good mix of accounts. Here's my profile
Revolving limits: $5,720
Balance: $79
I have been badgering my CC's to give me CLI's every two months and some have budged. I need some credit and I know I have the money to pay them off. My partner has excellent credit and has only Premium CC's with about $50,000 in CL. I'd like to get to the 5-digit limit and would like some advice on applying for some credit cards with 0% intro APR and/or average rewards benefits. Now, I don't really need the credit as I have the money sitting in my bank account to use it. But, I'd rather apply for some credit and build while I am at it.
My scores: 633 EX, 621 TU and 640 EQ
Baddies: 5 EX, 5 TU and 3 EQ (According to myFICO)
INQ: 4 EX, 2 TU, 4 EQ (Per myFICO)
I did have 2 credit cards closed by credit grantor's request because of multiple 60-day lates but paid as agreed
I paid off an installment loan which I was paying about 30% interest and have managed to keep my balances below the 9% range.
Please suggest some credit cards that I can apply for to increase my CL.
I tried whogavemecredit.com but apparently their website is broken.
I'm looking at:
Barclays Rewards MC (I did have an apple rewards that I dinged them with 60-day lates and later closed it)
Bank of America Cash Rewards ( I have been their personal banking customer since 2009, can I get some leeway? Again dinged the secured card with 60-day late but PIF)
CapOne Venture One (Very good standing with them)
I really don't need store cards as much. But at this point, I'll take almost anything.
If you have the cards in your sig, then personally I would just sit on them and let those age. Confused that you say your looking at the Venture and Barclays while they are listed in your sig. Let your bads and INQs age off a little longer before going for anything else, especially considering you say you don't "need the credit". Just my opinion.
Check Cap One's prequal website if you must. Chase as well.

Thanks for your reply, I indeed PC'd my QS1 this morning and applied for Barclays Rewards Card and got approved for a $2,000 CL. I think I'll take your opinion and sit on these cards before I do anything else.
Good job! I'd hang tight for 6 months (or longer!) if you can, even though it can be a difficult thing to do. I think you'd benefit quite nicely.
6 MONTHS?? lol.. It's going to be tough, but I think I can.. Maybe? I don't know...
Time to change your spade back into a seedling!

Totally forgot about that! I guess I'd have to wait for another three months to get the spade back!
