I am getting so frustrated! My Experian Fico 8 scores finally jumped to 712 and Equifax 704 and I am not getting approved for anything. I applied for the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass and Regular cards with denial. Then I tried a pre-approval with Capital one and all it approved me for was a secured mastercard. Chase also said they had no approvals. Discover also didn't approve me but that's because I recently settled my last collection with them.
I have the Quicksilver Capital One Card $750 limit that has $10 on it. I have a Macy's card (no interest) with a $3500 limit and $1700 on it. I am employed full time and make over 100k a year. I just don't understand why I'm not getting approved for anything!
Any ideas would be helpful or suggestions for cards to check out?
Are you a member of a CU Credit Union? If not, have you considered joining one?
CU's to join for Savings Rate now and possible Credit Products later!
Greetings jegnova1 ~ Don't get frustrated . . . it takes time -and- you don't want too many applications and inquiries on your credit report. You mentioned that Discover "probably" didn't approve you because of your recently settled collection with them. Are there any additional adverse items on your credit reports? If so, who are the creditors and what's the balance(s) owed? You may want to consider Navy Federal Credit Union and/or any Credit Union may grant a card approval. Wishing you success in obtaining your desired credit card(s).
Hi @Anonymous
How is your overall credit profile? Lates? Charge offs? Any derogatory items or a clean file? With any thing listed above, it just takes some more time! The offers will come!
Thank you. Yes, I am a member of a credit union but they are sticklers also. Do you know which credit union would be best to apply for?

Thank You. I don't have any collections on my report only creditors that show as settled for less but paid in full. Yah I do have a lot of inquiries but most are not very recent. Last year, My wife and I just finished getting every single collection paid off / settled and Discover was the last one which was paid off last month. I have had excellent payment history for the last 3 years with all of my credit. My credit is still showing lates from several years ago so I assume those will slowly drop off.
Here are my current creditors (All have exceptional payment History)Capital One Quicksilver $10
Macy's $1700
Synchrony Home $0
Lafayette Credit Union (Pool Loan) $41,000
My tuition Solution $3900
Mortgage - $306,000
Toyota Lease
Lexus Lease
Thank YOu!

@Anonymous Are all of these you are talking about simply pre-approvals you tired, or did you actually app for these cards? You mentioned pre-approval for Cap1, and the way you worded Chase and Disco sounds like you were using their pre-approval tool too. Not sure if you actually pulled the trigger on AMEX, but they also have a pre-approval tool. Did any of these pre-approvals come with an AA letter? ("adverse action," the reasons they were unable to offer you credit.) If so, that is a good place to start. Sometimes those letters will include "fluff" from the lender, but if you are looking at all of them and see a pattern, that will give you an idea of what items specifically you need to be working on.
