Re: Overstock.com Shopping Cart Trick...not really :/

Not sure where I've been, but I discovered the SCT about a week ago and it is the best thing since sliced bread, lol.  I've been trying to get overstock.com, but I guess my score isn't high enough....I put my husbands information in and the pop-up came up before I could get all of his information in.  My score is in the low 600's and his ranges from mid 600 to high 600.  He was only approved for $250 though.  I've been working with The Sportsman Guide, also, with no luck.  I've been watching my credit score everyday and it came up 9 points from yesterday, so having available credit without the HP really helps, it seems.

Is this still a SP only for new credit applications? Anyone have recent experiences with them?

I was approved and asked for my full social. Went through the shopping cart. Either way a positive outcome. I'll know soon enough whether they did a SP or HP.

It's a soft pull even with full SS.

Re: Overstock.com Shopping Cart Trick...not really :/

On a whim, I decided to investigate the Overstock shopping cart trick last night, and something peculiar happened. I loaded my cart with several items and went to checkout, and the "you're preapproved" popup came up. But I realized that my old address was still in the system (I hadn't used Overstock in several years, since before I moved), so I went back to Settings to change the address to my current one, then played around with selections some more, adding some items and removing others. When I went back to checkout again, the popup didn't appear again. I went away and came back again a few hours later, still nothing. In fact, I tried again just now, and no dice.  I wonder if changing my address was what did it, but no matter, it was several years out of date so I had to do it anyway. (I'm not applying for any more credit at this time and for the next few months anyhow, since I got a big "it's time to stop!" when I tried for an Amazon Store CLI and was turned down flat by Credit Solutions earlier this afternoon.)

Re: Overstock.com Shopping Cart Trick...not really :/

Can someone give quick advice on how to manage a store card credit card?
With normal CC I use 5 percent utilization abd pay off entire balance every month. How do I approach this store card? Buy something that is 5% of my limit and pay it off every month? Buy something and pay it off slowly every month? Any help is appreciated.

You would treat it the same why you would a regular credit card the same rules of utilization applies you don't want to use more than 30%
You want to show use of the card. how you want to utilize it up to you. If you're looking for payment history you would want to use it making sure you are under the 30% rule
Bill cycles updates to the credit bureau you pay off next month it reports with a zero balance your score should jump.
If you already have a high credit score you just use it as you please
