Of course I put the same exact info, it didn't change. The only difference was the bank on the fourth try. The app went through fine.

I swear I put the exact same info in too but it acts like I actually finished applying before. Oh well, it's no big loss.

Bree, do you have this card? 

 

I'm not sure I can even tell who their target audience is. To me it appears to be those with little or no credit, where qualification is primarily based on ability to repay via access to banking information beforehand. 

Am I misunderstanding what I read on their page?

I'm not sure I can even tell who their target audience is. To me it appears to be those with little or no credit, where qualification is primarily based on ability to repay via access to banking information beforehand.

I did the prequal on the Petal card a while back just to see where I stood with them. They asked to link a bank account, and at that point, I was no longer interested in going further. I just didn’t complete it, and thought that would be it. A few days later I got an email from an account manager basically trying to talk me into linking my bank account info. I responded and told him that I’d never had to do that, and wasn’t willing to do so. He emailed me back explaining why they did that etc. I declined again, and he told me that if I didn’t finish the pre-approval that I couldn’t apply later. I never responded again, and a week or two later I got an email stating that I could not apply again.

It’s a weird business model for a very mediocre card, IMO. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah Deserve is another card that works the same way with the bank account linking and crap.

It was an odd experience for sure. This was the email from the Account Manager:

Plaid actually terrifies me. It connects to bank accounts and actually totally bypasses their additional security like multifactor authentication.

 

I guess I'm glad I didn't finish the app. I don't want to give that info to anyone. I actually was thinking about ditching my bank because they use Zelle which means every transaction in or out gets reported to EWS. 

It's terrifying how much data these companies legally harvest from us...
