PNC cash rewards

I really want this card. I have a "financial wellness" appointment with my banker at PNC next month. I know they use EX for apps and I believe they use FICO 9, can anyone else attest to that? My EX FICO 8 is 655 right now and I'm gonna tie up some loose ends so by next month hopefully it will be around 670. Anybody have experience with them? What scores are they willing to accept or what score did you have when u applied? I really don't want to get denied. I have been banking with them for a year. I'm about ready to take a shot, what do you all think?
Current 2023 FICO 8 score - 760 (EX) 758 (TU) 762 (EQ) (FICO 9s seem to be significantly higher)

Re: PNC cash rewards

I work at the mentioned institution and they do indeed pull Experian for all credit applications. 640 is the score that we usually recommend having before applying but PNC is VERY conservative and if you have a lot of inquiries in the past 12 months or if your credit is too new (age of credit history) you might not be approved. They are also a relationship bank meaning the more accounts and longer time with them the better chance of getting approved you have.

Re: PNC cash rewards

I can personally attest they use Ex Fico 09.

I’ve been banking with them since March of this year. Highest limit card was $9500 with Discover (at that time) and Pnc approved me for $12500 instantly at 16.74%. My Fico 9 was 696 at the time. 4 90 day late student loans and paid collection.

I love love the card and Pnc in general

Re: PNC cash rewards

Thanks for the info! I have been with PNC for a year now I only have a checking account. They have been trying to get me to apply for a card since I opened the account but I told my banker that I wanted to wait until my score got a little better. My EX FICO 8 is right now 655. I have an appointment next month (he called me to come in to surely try and sell me products) and by then my score will be around 670 hopefully. And then with my little bit of history with them that will help. Crossing my fingers and hopefully I get approved

Oh and as far as my age of accounts my oldest account is an AU account 30 years on my EX file. My oldest account that is mine is 11 years which are two student loans that are in good standing with 90% paid off. My average age of accounts is only like 5 years maybe a little less which is OKAY and hopefully not too new. As far as inquires I have 3 on my EX profile in the last 2 years. 2 of them are fairly recent. Should I be okay?

Re: PNC cash rewards

My scores are higher than yours (741-749), but I had 6/12 EX, 5/12 TU and 4/12 on inquiries when I app’d for PNC a few weeks ago. 3 of the 12 on EX were in the last 2 months. The PNC card was my 4th card of my recent 5 card spree, so they don’t seem too awful sensitive to inquiries.

Re: PNC cash rewards

PNC was tough to crack for me but it was my first ever credit card. I opened mine in 2007 and I had a checking/savings account many years prior that was opened up for me by my parents. I forget when exactly I originally applied, but I was denied in late 2006 or early 2007. I don't recall the reason but I'm sure it was for no credit history. I used PNC for an auto loan on my first new car in February of 2007 and the agent was pushing the credit card so I told him that I already had applied and was denied. He left the room and came back and said I was approved.

I used that card exclusively until 2014 when I got my second credit card. Now my PNC Points card sits in the SD with only a Netflix bill keeping it alive. I really like the Cash Rewards card (I'm not sure it existed when I applied in 2006/2007) and I tried to PC to it but they say they don't do that. I don't really want to open up another credit card with them so I probably will never have it and I don't want to close my Points because it's my oldest. I'm becoming heavily invested in Chase now it seems.
