PenFed Credit Card Application

Just looking for a little input. I was just approved for an auto loan through PenFed and I know they use the same pull for 90 days on other products. I don't really NEED another credit card but if it's not another pull on my report is it worth it just to open one? Does it build a better relationship status with them? Thanks everyone.

Penfed doesnt always use the same pull for 90 days and for that case even 30 days anymore.  Expect a new HP for each credit product you apply from with penfed now days vs. how they use to do business

Re: PenFed Credit Card Application

Penfed is prone to pull your report on anything you apply for now. Long gone are the days of 90 days. Getting a credit card is much harder than a car loan imho so it all depends if they like your profile, how much credit you have, income, and other factors. In my humble opinion nothing can really be done to build a better relationship. They either like your profile or dont. From personal experience i did sll the right things, got cc, paid on time, got pl paid on time and paid off early all in hopes of establishing history and bettering my relationship. All for naught but thats my personsl experience. Good luckSmiley Happy

I agree with AJC I was approved for a 64k auto loan at their lowest rate in less than 15 minutes and can't get a credit card to save my life. If new accounts are low as well as inquiries you'd be good - most likely it may or may not be a new HP, it definitely depends on how they're feeling at that moment.

It most likely is another pull. Auto is a different product and will require a different pull.

Re: PenFed Credit Card Application

So I got a car loan from Penfed about a year ago and pay 100% on time with extra principle. About a month ago I applied for a Penfed Power Cash card and was approved with a $20K CL. So I then applied for the Penfed Pathfinder AMEX and was approved for $20K. I’m done now. Smiley Happy

Re: PenFed Credit Card Application

Just a personal DP. I know many have commented on the frequent HP's for anything PenFed lately. I established membership with them recently, of course that carries with it a HP. In the following days I slid them a couple apps testing the water. Each time it got held up and I received a request to remove freeze. Each time I sent a secure message reminding them that they had just pulled my report and that I was told that report was good for 30 days upon agreeing to allow the HP. After that message they would review the pull they'd already done for their decision without insisting on a second HP. If they'd insisted I would have kindly asked them to cancel the application.

Good story -- thanks. How'd you make out on the apps?

Re: PenFed Credit Card Application

Sorry, i understand not wanting to give Penfed another hp, but advocating freezing or locking a credit bureau in attempt to deny a creditor access to your credit report is not permitted here and is against Forum TOS. Thank you for understanding.
