No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
I would still cancel the Cap One if you can get two or three cards approved. Their rewards are not very good. I will include a list of cards that I would app for.
Join NFCU, then App for Cash Rewards.
App for Starwood Hotels from Amex.
App for CSP/CSR if you are under 5/24, if over App for Fairmont card.
App for Amazon Card if you are a prime member. 5% cash back!
I get no rewards from Cap1... Shouldn't I apply for the Chase card first, then the Amex, THEN the NFCU? Chase wants to see less cards, AmEx second for the same reason. Then Navy Federal because they are more lienient?
Yes that is a good order. I apologize I did not order them in any fashion, just threw them all out there.
Btw, a big thanks to you for steering me to NFCU about a week ago. I was able to join in less than 48 hours. Looking forward to seeing about their products. Justtttt want to make sure all the baddies are off all three reports before I think about applying for anything. I think I'm in the clear but will know more about what has updated and what hasn't by week's end.

No problem NFCU is great.
Why Starwood over Blue Cash? That's the one I was targeting
I would choose Starwood due to the signup bonus and high value of points, Starwood points are worth 2.2 cents, the bonus alone is worth $550. In the end if you don't travel much or don't want to go to their properties app for the card you would like. It is kinda personal preference.

Out of curiosity, what is your current AAoA and how many accounts are on your reports?
Say you have 10 accounts on your reports and your AAoA is 6 years with 1 of those 10 accounts being your 13 year old account. Removing that account from your reports would drop your AAoA to 5 years. In this example, it's possible that there would be little or no score change with a 1 year AAoA reduction.
Of course it depends on how many accounts you have and what your current AAoA is. If you have fewer acconts, the more volatile it will be to accounts dropping off (or adding on).
I opened 3 accounts this past June and my AAoA didn't drop at all in terms of FICO scoring. 7 years before the 3 new accounts and 7 years after the 3 new accounts.
I have a closed Kohl's account that is 3.1 years old. And two secured CC's that are 4 months old. And on EX I have that 13 year old card. All positive TLs. The two secured CC arr the only ones that are still open. AAoAs: EX: 4.1, EQ:1.3, TU: 1.3
