Hello credit peeps,
I do not know if this has been asked before and I apologize if it has been. I was booking a hotel stay in the Marriot Bonvoy app and I got the PreApproved offer seen in the images. The APR is firm. Are there any recent data points of anyone applying thru this app and bypassing the Chase 5/24 and getting approved?
I travel a lot for work and this card would be a workhorse for work/company related travel as my company would reimburse me all stays under $200. I would earn lots of BONVOY points. Like the other benefits and I am okay with $95 annual fee.
My current stats are:
Experian 765 FICO 08 Transunion 741 FICO 08 and Equifax 759 FICO 08
4 inquires for Experian, 4 for Transunion, and 3 for Equifax
1 new account last 6 months, 4 in the last year, and 7 for the last 2 years.
Thanks for taking time to read this and Happy Easter!!
I have not seen recent DPs for this card above 5/24. As I posted elsewhere, I suspect that 5/24 got loosened for cobrands in general, and my personal guess is that you'd be approved. However, I could be wrong, so take this comment with a grain of salt and apply at your own risk.
I have been posting for about two years that 5/24 is a disservice to cobrands. Maybe the right conversations finally happened to that effect. Or maybe not ... in any case, I would expect 5/24 to still be in full effect for core Chase cards.
go for it.
If denied, one more inquiry isn't the end of the world. Plus, this will be a great data point for others who may get the offer and are over 5/24.
Some people can get past the 5/24 rule depending such as Amazon card. Not sure if marriott is one of those co-branded. cards that get around it. Can always google doctorofcredit marriott 5/24 and see recent comments and dp's from people and see some of the posts and inquires that got around it or didn't etc..
Edit: appears 5/24 does apply to this card based on a recent marriott doc article.
edit2: with that said i had a black check mark on chases website and was like 25/24 a few years back and instant approved so anything is possible.
