I guess you'd have to weigh the value of having 2 Discover accounts with X and Y limits verses a potential single Discover account with X+Y limit? I'm not sure if Discover does limit-combining, but if they do you'd want to request that happen before closing out the card that you moved the limit away from.
Yeah, no harm in sitting tight for a bit and requesting some CLIs to see what happens.

Thought about this thread when I heard this today. Perplexing to me. My dil, young girl, tells me this afternoon that she finally called Discover and said, "Would you please quit raising my limit?" My jaw dropped. I asked her why in the world would she do that and that's when she said cause they raise it and I wanna spend it so I told them to quit. I know she's had it years, like 4 and the "auto" cli's are $500 a pop. But that's all the dp's I can give, I think I was stunned. And jealous, not gonna lie. She has a pretty thick file, cr dating back around 7 yrs. with first car.

Dang, poor girl rejecting AJC Specials. Uhh, is life telling me something?
Yeah, it's saying we're getting old.
Cruel world isn't it. Someone rejecting all the CLI's that AJC can't get!

I got the exact same letter. I too believe future CLI will be based on spend not time between increases
I mean, it should be a function of both to some degree, but spend IMO should matter most. I don't have an issue with some sort of time parameters being in place... like a CLI every 6 months being a constraint for many lenders is pretty standard, but at the time of the CLI outside of overall profile of course spend should be considered over the course of the period of time since the last CLI.

I think you're right. My dil, who I post about 6 up^^, just paid most of her card off. So since I told her she put an end to the auto cli's she went on her phone today and requested a cli and got 1k. She's a college student, part time job. So she's been pretty maxed out the whole time through her auto cli's this year and now this. She's been maxed or close to now for years on her Discover; she got it after hs graduation and uses it all the time. She has a WalmartMC, Lowes Adv., Care Credit and her second auto loan. But she pretty much just uses her Discover.
