Hello,
This forum has been very helpful to me, and I have learned, and accomplished a lot from here. So here is my question.
I had a new profile, some Au's I was on going back to 2006, most of the Au's I am on have a good limit($11400, $20000, $10000) and no balances.
I have started building my credit up and recently have got these approvals:
United Traveler(Chase) $9000--$0 balance
Chase Slate $5000- $0 balance
Chase Freedom $4500 - $0 balance
RBFCU Platinum -$5000- $1500 balance
USAA Platinum Mastercard-$2000 -- $0 balance
USAA Amex-$2000--$0 balance
Bank of America Cash Rewards-$1500 ---$0 balance
Walmart store card-$10,000 --$0 balance
I just applied yesterday for Discover after seeing a legit pre qual on their site for the IT card(it showed me exact rate and terms) and was only approved for $500.
Have been declined for Barclay's because of too many inquiries.
I have over 10 each on Equifax and Experian, and had the same on TU, but just checked my reports today, and TU only has 1 hard inquiry. I think i inadvertently knocked them off, but I checked both creditchecktotal and usaa and they both show 1 hard inquiry only.
So can I freeze my Equifax and Experian temporarily to obtain a few more approvals using my tu only? And should I try and recon the Discover limit since I just was approved, or reapply(I just checked and the IT card still shows preapproved and the exact rate)?
Also, Barclays only reason for td'ing me is too many inquiries when I called backdoor #.
TU score is 751 Fico/741 Vantage3.0.
Experian is 741/728(12 inquiries)
Equifax is 728/733(13 inquiries)
I am flying to Europe in 10 days and would like a card that I can really benefit from like the Barclay Arrival or another card.
I check Credit Cards Card Match tool daily, and today was the first time that any Simmons Bank cards showed for me(actually showed 2)
AAOA is 1yr 6 months. And income is over $100,000. Utilization is 3%.
Thanks for any advice!
Craig
Discussion of freezing credit bureaus in order to force a creditor to pull another is prohibited from being discussed on these forums. Additionally if you were to do so, more than likely you will receive a denial as they cannot pulls the reports that they wish to.
Ignore anything you see on the cardmatch site. It's purely a marketing web page for credit cards.
I am sorry, I honestly had no idea. So assuming that I don't do that, which I definitely won't now, any advice as far as TU only pullers? I think that's Barclay's and Discover.
Thank you
Craig
If I were you I'll stop apping. That Discover $500 and the denial is telling you that is time to garden.
Discover sometimes pull other bureaus. Barclay is almost always TU only. If you want the Barclay card either go for it, or garden and in 6 months I'm sure you'll get it with higher limit lower APR. Good luck.
EDIT: oh, and I'll ask Chase to transfer some limit to Freedom from United, just to be 5k or more, and ask for Visa Signature. Just to have more cards at 5k+.
doesnt show as prequal when I check. do they pull TU? I was also thinking call BOA recon and explain my reasoning for CLI(trip, etc), and have them pull TU, which they did for me originally. I also read about Us Bank? Just trying to add one or two more high limit cards that i can benefit from, then let everything garden and grow in age together I am a member of Nasa FCU , Penfed and Consumers Credit if that may be a route to go as well?
