So I have been working myFico jelly and have gotten some great results. 10k on a NFCU goRewards, 6k AMEX EDBC, 3k Cap1 plat and 3500 Cap1 QS. 4k overstock and 3k rooms to go. Not all at once mind you, but over the process of some months.
Needless to say earlier this week I reached the point of completion as far as applications and new credit go. I saw my experian still had a slot left, I consider 4 inquiries my limit, so I decided after reading and researching that my experian which was at 701 when I applied was probably good enough to take a crack at the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. So I did and it literally took 8 seconds to get the 7-10 day message.
myFico updated me this morning with the inquiry and a 3 point drop which I am just going to assume means it was denied but I also got an email from chase saying they are going to review my app and one way or another, in 30 days they will let me know whats what. Of course I am going to recon the hell out of it because its a hard pull and I will not waste that.
My question is, when I recon it, do I remain stout on trying to get the CSP or do I try to wiggle a slate or freedom or any card out of it just to save the hard pull from being a complete wash? I had a chase freedom a few years ago and closed it when I closed my bank account with them. I figured that might have helped me with them but I am guessing not.
Thanks for reading and doube thanks for answers.

I would stand firm for the CSP. The CSP did not show up for me in a preapproval. I have gotten 12 credit cards since last July. I got approved for $2,200 for the Freedom. I used it once for a big purchase at Williams-Sonoma. Out of curiosity I went and tried the pre-qual again and there was the CSP. I just got it in the mail today. It looks nothing like the cards on this site. It is that purplish color though. It has a small CSP label in the top left corner, the account number is listed on the back but it is made of metal.

Pick up the phone right now and call this number. Don't assume you were denied. Call the analyst, answer any questions that they have and tell them why you want the CSP. That's the card you applied for so don't waffle. Good luck and call now!

You gonna update us when you learn if you got the CSP or not? It's such a purdy card.

My spouse applied for the CSP last night and got the 7-10 message. Called UW and it was simply verification they wanted so they sent us over to that department (they close at 7pm EST according to the UW). Took about 10 minutes for the guy to ask a few questions (address, age, etc.) and then he put us on hold and came back and approved us!
Same thing today. We applied for the Chase IHG. 7-10 day message. Called UW and told them this happened last night with the CSP and they confirmed again they needed verification.

Your not supposed to carry your SSN card in your wallet ![]()
As mentioned, definitely call them. It could be either a denial or just verification.
Yes I will definitely update. It gives me hope to hear of other folks here who have had the 7-10 day message and it was just verification. I am hoping for the same since they sent me the "we will review and let you know in 30 days email." On previous denials I had never recieved a follow-up email like that.
I was not able to get a call into the analysts today due to an automobile malfunction, power steering pump went out, which took up my afternoon but I will call them saturday if they are working or the next business day they are open and see what is what.
Regardless, I will let this thread know.
Thank you for the responeses and advice and the spark of hope that its not dead yet. ![]()
Called the number and they denied me. They offered no budging or flexing either. Silly part is they cited a $35 medical collection that is scheduled to fall off my account this august as the derogatory item they just couldn't get past... I was like, really? I tried my little heart out on the phone and the guy was nice as could be but they just were not going to move forward until that item was off my report to which he happily said, "Please do apply with us again when it is gone" to which I replied, "I will apply in 24 months after all my current inquires fall off and not a day sooner."
Also they had my experian score at 648 when myFico and Experian themselves had me at 701 and 711 respectively... wonder what version they used to get that score??
Kind of a bummer but no worries. 24 months of gardening to do and I have a 3x CLI for AMEX coming up in april. I am still one happy camper credit wise. I am informed and I am empowered! Boldly going now!....... to the garden....! ![]()
