I applied (and got approved) for my first credit card (FNBO Evergreen) in December 2021. I've been considering what I wanted my eventual cash back setup to be and have decided that for the time being, I want to apply to:
Additionally, I plan to move to a new house in about a month. So based on my existing credit history, the cards I want to apply to, and the timing of my move, I'm curious as to what option is my best for applying to these credit cards:
tl;dr:
You won't get the benefit of 1 HP for all 3 app's. Each one will be their own
If your move requires credit approval from your new landlord if you're a renter....or are you getting a mortgage? That should come first.
I'll be renting a townhome that my parents own, so no mortgage and a credit approval for renting is no concern here 😅
I thought I've read that applying for multiple cards in 1 day from the same underlying bank in most cases means they won't pull for each app? Or at least that it should mean that I won't run into the 1/12 rule for USB? If I apply separately I'm far less likely to get approved for all 3 this year, no?

With US Bank they stopped allowing using the same HP for multiple apps a few years I believe. As @cashorcharge said it'll be HPs for each card. The 1/12 rule is a...I want to say soft rule that allows no more than one approval in the last 12 months to have the best success of getting approved for a US Bank credit card. YMMV since there are occasinal approvals reported where people are beyond 1/12 and still get approved for a credit card. Your profile will dictate how they will handle your application
To answer the original question based on the thread below looks like I would hit the Teeter card first since it's backed by US Bank directly with the soft 1/12 rule and then hit the other two next since it seems Elan is more forgiving. After that assuming you're approved for all three apps I'd let the cards age and let your profile recover til next year at least
Thanks! I'll apply separately then, with Harris Teeter first. And yeah, definitely gardening until next year after these 3 cards!
Any suggestions on whether I should apply before or after my address change (and how soon after, if so)? I'm not sure how it affects the application process but I would very much like to avoid being declined just for giving them my new address next month when my credit report may still have my old one or something like that.
A datapoint to share on the Elan MCP card is that I applied for two of the secured cards from two different banks within minutes of each other and they only did one HP for both cards. Not sure if I was just lucky or if this is their standard procedure.
