I completely understand your frustration with BoA. I paid my house off and asked them the total needed and couldn't get a straight answer so I sent them a check for $35,000 about $300 more than I owed and they started foreclosure proceedings on me and they owed me money. I fought them for quite awhile before getting it straightened out. You can try one of the backdoor numbers. If it was me I would run to the nearest exit.
Good Luck you will need it!

OP - you're going to win some and lose others. My experience with BOA/FIA has been great throughout the entire banking relationship. I would heed coldnmn's advise in checking the backdoor numbers thread and contact their UW/analyst area that may possibly have some leverage with reconsidering your denied application. Keep in mind that every lender has different criteria, and just because Chase or Citi may have approved you, doesn't mean everyone will. Good luck either way.
IMO BofA is the scum of the scum... Obviously others disagree. Much better banks out there! Best of luck either way. I hate them more then Cap1.. That is saying alot

+1
BofA is pretty hard pressed for people having history with credit. Try the backdoor number and if that doesn't work them just use your cards now and try again in about 6 months.
+2. BoA was terrible to my mother and treated her like dirt. She did not have a credit card with them nand her checking account was never overdrawn. My recommendation is to never do any business with BoA.
I had a good experience w/BOA 8 years ago. I got a great rate on a student card (12.14%), but a smallish limit. The only reason I don't have them now is because I let their card C/O 6 1/2yrs ago. -- Paid it back 5 1/2 years ago and they still won't let me back in.

Hello everyone!
I am a new member so I really hope I made this thread in the appropriate section of this forum. If I didn't then I do apologize!
I was recently denied for a Bankamericard Cash Rewards card. The reason stated was "You do not have a sufficient number of credit references and you do not have sufficient established revolving credit accounts. The same day I made my application with Bank of America I also filled out three others with Capital One, Chase, and Citibank. One with each. I was only immediately approved for Chase Freedom.
The problem is here... While I was able to successfully get Capital One and Citibank to reconsider my applications.I have had such a hard time getting BoA to even hear me out for more than a minute on the phone!! If I do get someone on the phone for more than a minute they are obviously defensive and... Quite impolite to say the least.
I believe there are a lot of knowledgeable individuals on here. Hopefully someone could help me with ideas on how I should go on about this? Or advise me on wether I should just let it be and forget about it? Even though I just made an account, I do tend to browse these forums often so I know there is a lot of great advice and useful tips floating around here!
I was wondering if anyone might know why Bank of America doesn't take a second look at denied Credit Card applications anymore? I always try to be as polite as I possibly can and just wanted to ask if there was a chance I could even get a low limit but they disconnect before I can even say a word haha. I have tried calling every number I can find as well!
For example, I just got off the phone this morning after I called customer service and first thing the gentleman that answered said was "Before anything, I would like you to write a number for me down because sometimes the lines get disconnected". I wrote it down, and he hung up! And the number ended up being one where I could only check application status and hear I was denied; from an automated pre-recording! Which I had already called beforehand!
I have tried pressing 1 (for new applications) as well, twice already. First one told me to write to a PO Box and hung up. The second was so rude, I even questioned why I wanted to do any kind of business with them anymore. But I already made the application so I figured I should try to make the points I lost worth it so to speak. He blatantly refused to transfer me to anyone.
All in all. After the whole experience I'm beginning to think/feel like Bank of America doesn't like me lol ideas please? Should I just take the denial? I really wanted to bank with them in the future so it kind of hurts. Anyway, please help!! I would greatly appreciate it very much!!! Thank you in advance to anyone who took the time to read this (sorry it was so long!) and of course, thank you to anyone who decides to respond
OP, I would still go for it. Sometimes individual experiences will vary depending on the underlying circumstances. As I mentioned in my previous post, give them a try by contacting the backdoor numbers to determine if your reconsideration efforts result in a positive outcome. If they do - great. If they do not, just give it time. Not every lender is going to work for everyone but you should at least give them a try to see if they work for you. I've never had any issues after 15+ years of being with them and it's a decent bank IME.
