Recommendation for additional Credit Card for my Daughter

My daughter (22) works part-time. She makes about 12-15K per year, and she has full access to my and my wife's income. I probably give her 5-10K per year.

She is an AU on my wife's Cap One card (16K limit, $0 balance), an she also has the following:

Amazon Store Card 7K Limit

Discover 6K Limit

Amex (BCE) 4K Limit

Only has a $90 bal on the Disco card (just to show non $0 bal on one account)

Fico 8's are in the 730-740's. Her 3 accounts are all about 1 year old. The AU account is  1 1/2 year old.

I was thinking about adding one more card -- her own Visa/MC, and then letting those age for a long time.

Any suggestions ? I am an NFCU member, and she could join NFCU. I checked the prequals and she qualifies for a Cap QS1 (or a Plat MC).

Thanks

Re: Recommendation for additional Credit Card for my Daughter

I wish my parents had been interested in helping me understand credit like you seem to be for your daughter. Kudos.

I wonder if it would benefit her more to look into this on her own.

She seems to have plenty of credit at the moment TBH

Re: Recommendation for additional Credit Card for my Daughter

Thats a good selection already...

Cards i'd consider would be a Navy card, and/or a Citi Double Cash....

At some point your going to want to kick the AU off... and the growth potential of Navy, and the cashback on the DC are both good cards for long term...

Kinda think cap one would be meh... though a QS wouldnt be bad.. but why not save that third pull...

How old are these cards she already has?

Are they ready for some SP CLIs?....

Its not like she needs the higher CLs BUT in this case its to soften the eventual AU removal...

Re: Recommendation for additional Credit Card for my Daughter

all 3 cards she has are at 12 months (this May)

I may just have her join NFCU (since I am a member it should be easy) , and then app sometime later this year with them

She did a prequal for Citi, and it did come back for a prequal on the DC

as far as SP CLI's - yes, she has done a round of those on all 3 this year (all successful)

she might just let things age for now ... just thought a Visa/MC with rewards might be a good 4th addition. I know 3 revolvers is good for FICO maximazation, thought a 4th wouldn't be bad

she only has inquiry each on EX/EQ/TU so no worries with taking 1-2 queries if it came to that

sort of indifferent at this time so will probably do nothing for now (maybe a SP CLI on Disco in a month or 2) - she's off to a great start, and she's really responsible with the cards she has

Re: Recommendation for additional Credit Card for my Daughter

I would do a card with the least damage possible...i'm talking about cap1.  They will add a HP on each of the bureaus for a total of 3, ouch!

She should try a Chase so she can start building a relationship with them.  Be aware of the 5/24 rule before applying and check prequal site.
